The Anaheim Ducks snapped their six-game losing streak last night, beating the Washington Capitals 4-2.

Anaheim was outplayed through a lot of the outing, being outshot 43-21 overall. However, John Gibson came up big and despite the the Ducks only managing five shots in the the final frame, a goal from Jakob Silfverberg on a 2-on-1, along with a late empty netter from Derek Grant, secured a win for Anaheim.

A big piece of news with the matchup was that Troy Terry returned to action. He had missed about two weeks with an injury and obviously, getting him back was big. At the same time though, Adam Henrique is on injured reserve and listed as week-to-week, after being injured in Tuesday’s game against the Tampa Bay Lightning.

The Ducks will wrap up their Eastern Conference road trip tomorrow, when they face the Carolina Hurricanes.

On another note, the Ducks also completed a minor trade with the Chicago Blackhawks yesterday. In the deal, Anaheim sent Hunter Drew to the Blackhawks, in exchange for forward Josiah Slavin.

Drew is 24 years old and was selected by the Ducks in the sixth round of the 2018 NHL Draft. He played two NHL games with the team last season and has spent the majority of the last four years with the AHL’s San Diego Gulls. This season, he managed five goals and 11 points in 44 AHL games, and he’ll be a restricted free agent this offseason.

Slavin is the same age and was taken by Chicago in the seventh round of the same draft. He played 15 NHL games with the Blackhawks last year, registering one assist and this season, he’s managed three goals and 11 points in 51 games with the AHL’s Rockford IceHogs. He’s the brother of Carolina Hurricanes defenseman Jaccob Slavin, and will also be an RFA this summer.
