I didn't like Ehlers game last night either but come on, Perfetti has twice missed significant time from two not heavy hits, Perfetti gets bumped off the puck very easily.
Ehlers is actually pretty good defensively, Connor really isn't.

Pionk hasn't been the same since Spezza dropped his knee on Pionks head, remember it took Morrissey years to recover from his concussion in 2019.

Yeah they miss PLD but he's been an empty jersey for the last 10 or so games before he got injured, he's looked checked out for quite awhile already.

In the end this team just isn't very good and not well built, just not enough legit talent in the right spots at forward and way too many 3rd pair dmen.

At the end of the day, this is the most probable conclusion for this team.

Nashville Preds may be proof of this very statement.....

Traded:

Nino Niederreiter to Winnipeg Jets
Tanner Jeannot to Tampa Bay Lightning
Mattias Ekholm to Edmonton Oilers
Mikael Granlund to Pittsburgh Penguins

..and in the end the actual talent they got back who are playing is Tyson Barrie and Cal Foote.

As we all know they have a better team since those trades of some key players ....especially Ekholm who has been a fantastic addition for the Oilers.

If the Jets don't make the playoffs then a major shakeup is definitely in order .

Yea, think a major shake-up is coning, regardless if we make the playoffs or not.

Probably PLD, Scheifele, NN, maybe Helle, DeMelo and Dillon out if they don't re-sign. Hope for a good return. And should be a good return to get the rebuild/re-tool started!

Going to be interesting to see what we get for PLD if he is dealt. Should normally get a 1st, a top prospect and a player under normal circumstances. However upon the news that he wants to play for the Habs - will this news diminish his return?

NN has another year left so I would bet he stays.

Todays game plan is keep the puck out our net for the 1st 10 mins. If they can get past this milestone or perhaps 1st period w/o goals against, then that would be an achievement.

If Smashville scores in the 1st 5 mins, it’s good night Irene.

Ehlers sets up wheeler point blank, wheeler fans on it, Ehlers sets up PLD with an empty net, PLD fans on it, out come 55&81, 1-0 nashville. Lol

Wheeler is fakin awful and his spot on the 1st PP unit is a birthright. He will be in the spot when he retires in plain cloths and boots.
He will never NOT be on the 1st unit.

Lowry apparently will always be on the 2nd unit, zero accountability for either of them.

Sends an awful message to rest of the team

Yes, NN has a year left on present contract. Problem is what if you're in playoff contention at deadline next season, and he is an upcoming UFA?

Do you deal him then, or let him walk for no return? No, he needs to be re-signed before this season starts, if he is to stay. (which I hope he does)

I guess it's "Good-night Irene." lol

I'm sure no one jumped higher than you when Ehlers scored. I'm glad its a bit of a monkey off his back because it was setting up as a typical Ehlers game before that.

Pionk pretty guilty on both Nashville goals and steam was coming out of my ears on those two gaffes he made leading to the second goal. Then he redeems himself somewhat in OT with the game-winner. Still, I'd rather see him in the press box.

Finally, the Jets really need to work on their finishing....especially Dubios and Connor. These guys are supposed to put the puck in the net and seem to be just snake-bitten. Jets also need to get that PP. working. Its been the difference btw winning and losing as of late.

I would guess that Wheeler is back next year as I believe management is faithful to long-term employees/players who have given dedicated service. Unless he requests a trade. But not top liner. Unless he requests a trade.

But I hear where you're coming from!

Pionk should have been traded years ago when he had his one great season with the Jets. This team is pretty bad at talent evaluation and does not know when to sell high.

I forgot who posted this, but in the last 11 years the Jets have only ever traded away one prospect and that was in the Stastny deal. It just seems as if the Jets are content in watching their assets decline rather than trade them when their value is high.

Do you guys want to keep highlighting Connor’s complete unawareness and horrible defensive play after every goal against or do we all get the point I was trying to make now? I like Connor, but he isn’t close to the complete player Ehlers is. Connor is one dimensional.

That first goal against was completely on Samberg. Late coming back after the pinch. I saw that goal happen when St. Louis was breaking out of its own end.

If I were the Jets I'd be getting Swayman out of Boston, instead of signing Hellebuyck long term. Scheifele or PLD should do it

I see this type of reply all the time. Connor was beside the guy that scored, had a better view than anyone else on the ice. I appreciate how often people rush to his defense when he’s on the ice for every goal against. I just wish Connor played defense as good as his fans defending him lol

Not a bad thought and I can see it, Boston will still be in win now mode even if Krieje and Bergevin don’t come back. It’s just to bad they have no draft or prospect capital to include with Swayman.
I also see them getting local Bostonian Kevin Hayes from Philly as a possibility.

I hate to say it but I think some of the boys have checked out on Bowness.

Scheifele, Connor, PLD...to name a few. Wheeler's best days are behind him, and Pionk?

Time to clean house and start fresh. We make the playoffs, maybe, but a lot of the players don't deserve it.

Having said that, I live and die with the Jets .....and will continue to do so. Hope we get a couple of decent draft choices. Some that can win a battle along the boards! Did we not lose every battle tonight? Compete?

I watched that goal a few times on replay, everyone on the ice looked entirely lost and Idk why the Jets wingers come down low sooooo often and don't pick up a guy, just collapse down low but just stand there and puck watch meanwhile the dman they're supposed to be covering is wide open, if Wheeler stays with Leddy instead of coming down low maybe that goal doesn't happen but if Connor or Morrissey takes Kapanen the goal might of been prevented too.

There was plenty of time to recover after Samberg's pinch up at the Blues blueline, Samberg's attempts to block shots were funny, Morrissey was just standing around basically, Wheeler chasing the puck carrier into the Jets zone instead of just letting Morrissey take him, Scheifele was just circling around doing basically nothing.

Just an embarrassing sequence of events from every Jet on the ice not named Hellebuyck.

The Jets main issue is not so much that they have challenges playing a defensive game, it is that they are unable to play a solid possession game. It just seems that whether in the offensive or defensive zone, they are constantly chasing the play. Even their goals all look like flukes.

One of either 2 things are happening:
1. Bones does not know how to coach a possession game; or
2. We do not have the personnel to play it (in that case, it's clearly Chevy's fault).

They look checked out. It may be that they are confused/exasperated and trying too hard to get the details right resulting in a paralyzing fear of making mistakes. There is still something off in the chemistry of the top six as the desperation is lacking and it doesn't look like they are having fun ever.

As I have been saying for a couple years now Chevy is not the guy to lead this team to a championship. He has taken what he is good (loyalty and underappreciated Michigan boys) at to an illogical extreme that isn't working.

Wheeler over 19 mins against StL and he was the worst forward on the ice
Ehlers just over 12 mins after having a 2 point game in Nashville, could have been 4 pts

Our loyalty to Wheeler will end this team.

After watching Ehlers fight and try to spark this team you can see we are DONE.

55 and 81 passengers for last 4 games.

The response by this team after Ehlers scrap shows a dead, very dead team

PLD wants to play for Montreal, trading him to Boston would be a slap. I like it.
