Younger starting D on ELC. Braden Schneider or similar.
- VanHockeyGuy

Ideally but will be costly. I’m with you on a defensive D. Fabbro isn’t that. If a UFA at the right price & term I like Soucy who can play either side.

Myers crouched low... conscious effort to not smash JT's brains in as it should be when you are that tall. I'm all right with catching a player unaware... as long as the head isn't targeted or from behind etc...
- boonerbuck

Was Reeves hit predatorial?

Neuby won’t answer that on a stand alone example.

So why was he middle pair in Detroit?
- boonerbuck

Because advanced stats are only half the story, he's getting better every year and Detroit has a plethora of skilled RHD. He's our 2nd best d and best RHD by a long shot.

Sound advice indeed. Should be reversed given the more experience.

They were both drafted in the same year, although McAvoy has played 57 more games.

Wings also played & won more with him in the line-up unlike this falling off a cliff & back to earth.

Could it be why Stevie Y moved him to keep on with building & not buying in they were ready?

One was 1st round the other in the 2nd. One started on a much better team the other began on a sad sack team.

Just thought I’d fill in the gap. Yw lol

No, they don't, nor do they have much in the system, unless you consider Srth Barton an ECHL 23 year old defenseman or 34 year old Steven Kampfer as plethora.
I expected more from a guy who claims to do his research.

Edvinsson is looking to be a real nice piece. Wallinder also. Still say need better elite C talent while the young wingers grow & develop. Zadina has really hurt being a bust.

Drafting isn't easy, but is how teams should be built, as that has been a proven formula, since the 1970s.

I know he did & there are no RHD for me to mention.

I refresh yer memory there ol timer…

Wings will probably pick a RHD with the NYI 1st they got from us. I think Reinbacher be ideal or Pellika if they prefer his tool kit. Maybe both will be there is a good guess. Wings have the size on D including prospects so idk which way they will go.

It’s proven to be only 1 component.
Teams intentionally tanking like the Pens got them Mario. Teams that tanked forever by accident got Kane & Toews. Nordiques we’re sad sack for years & it took Roy & Bourque etc to win the mug. Then winning McKinnon. There is tons of luck involved to win by drafting & the special players that are there.

Yes, it is only 1 component and has always been, but it is the component that is used to get you a majority of your core and several of your depth players.
The Canuck way is get 2 maybe 3 of those and fill in with trades of 1st and 2nd round picks, and free-agent signings.
No wonder they keep spinning their wheels.

Thoughts on the synergy of Petey Kuz & Beauvillier?

I like the skating & edges & puck possession skills to start of with. The speed is up there. A real good structured line. JTM gets his line ticking & well on the way to start well next year. 4th line is looking solid. 3rd line needs to be consistent & be a force if F depth is to really be the strength of the roster. The PP is looking like there are lots of options left for PP2. PK has me worried til a long stretch of success happens. It can be such a backbreaker when it sucked so often.

Yup no argument on that. All the bad UFA signings set us back. Pushing kids into the NHL was a big problem. It’s looking like those 2 facets are not happening with this regime. That said this draft is very important. Nail the 1st pick & mine goodies with our plenty of 3rds & 4ths (5).

@Reuby

It does start with drafting then what follows is the way to contention. Trading being 1st when the assets to do it. UFA’s for specific need. A tender goes without saying.
