Maybe so but out west teams could face poor travel sched & time zones that out east is a much less likely added challenge.

It’s not so simple as you make it out to be. I only offered up something that doesn’t make it a brand new season for WC teams. Coming in 7th & 8th isn’t a great achievement. Division winners should get a better advantage. The other teams fall into place on match ups by also getting rest.

8 WC teams in a play down has 4 games for consecutive nights for TV viewing. Means more revenue. 1 day off to travel for winners. The lottery moves down to only 12 teams. Therefore the top 2 picks are a LOTTERY.
