Draw you're own conclusions when you see him in the lineup next season.
- VanHockeyGuy

Fans seem to run down players that get traded to justify the trade, it’s a wait and see.

What's your take on Hughes breaking the record for a Dman with 200 assists in 263 games the other night?

Doing it on such a sh!te team as a kid is pretty impressive imo.

Trade him he’s good 😆

Hey - if we were picking around 10th - think it would be a decent idea to trade down with a team like Wash, Nash, Det, Buff - to the mid to late teens and potentially acquire a 2nd as payment?

Some of the potential draft targets you posted yesterday seemed like they could be available around there.

- Brooks_Light

I was studying that exact scenario last night. My annual ‘trade down’ in the back pocket lol

There could be a few nice pieces in that range. If they are set on picking D it makes sense. Passing up on a C is a big price but cannot get both with only 1 pick in the 1st 2 rounds. To trade to get a top 10 pick in the 2nd looks difficult being bottom feeders would put high value on that asset. The Wings have 3-2nds but won’t come cheap.

The only way they are moving it is to attach it to OEL.

My thoughts are keep OEL for 1 year examining all options but probably end up him playing 3rd pairing or sitting. Saving 2yrs of a buyout from 8 down to 6 is more likely. 8 is too long to get outta JB’s mess. 6 isn’t pretty but is better imo. Try & use next season to slowly get OEL up to his best level of play. Rest him & give him a training regiment to strengthen his knee & maybe get back his mobility. No downside other than his cap hit which can be eaten in a year where the Canucks are still developing an identity. Even if he plays a lot less we won’t miss him if he becomes depth D only. If he does get into better physical health great. Lastly he could see the writing on the wall & begin contemplating retiring, doubtful, or an MTA, slim chance.

Interesting stuff from Serevalli yesterday about Arizona. He says there will be a referendum about the new arena and the very real possibility of relocation to Huston.

He says owners are pissed at the franchise and at Gary for saving them so long now and being a burden on the league. He says player hate playing for that team.

He also mentioned there will be talks at the GM meetings next week about issues like LTIR and cap. He says one of the big topics they will be having is about the time frame a player can sit out with a potential upcoming trade involved.

- VANTEL

Lets hope all those issues are resolved.

I might be wrong, but I think you guys are missing the point about how the team feels about drafting.

The Chipmunk even came out and said at the last presser that there are other ways to obtain good players besides drafting. Him and JR have a history of giving up draft high draft picks (first round). I know someone will say not as a GM but he was a right hand man of JR in Pitts.

When has Lefty ever been right?

This franchise has had about seven good years out of fifty plus years. Trying to pick the worst era is like asking which STD you like better. They just keep adding to the pile of crap and the mountain continues to grow.

There is so much I dislike with this new group and their year in office that compares to a lot of what Benning did. I do like a couple of minor things also like Kavstov and the fourth line.

I would be surprised if Canucks keep their draft pick sitting in 12 to 14 spot.

I doubt the GMs approve any adjustment to LTIR seeing it helps them with their mistakes.

I think the player sitting out will get some tweaks.

The Arizona situation will be made in a couple of weeks if they get the new arena and location settled. It sounds like it might be finally over for them.

It is not a 2 year penalty it is only one year added on. The front end of the buyout is a bonus, not a minus.

Paying a player eight million dollars to sit or play third pairing is pure lunacy.

I don't believe the GM's have a say on league policy decisions, that would be the teams board of directors chairperson.

That list calls out Keenan for trading Linden.

Once again, one of the best moves in franchise history.

Sounds more of a reference to KHL & NCAA UFA’s. Didn’t say trading picks. Probably eluding to drafting is only 1 part of building a roster & organizational depth.

No it was directly said when asked about giving up two top 40 picks in this years draft. He said we feel very good about Hronek and besides there are other ways to obtain good players aside from the draft.

$7.26m but why quibble. Paying 2/3’s of a contract & getting absolutely nothing isn’t genius. Eating cap in years not contending is an option.

Canucks should put OEL through very rigorous physical testing after over his recent injury. Find out if a rehab regiment could help him get back into top form skating wise. Take as long as it takes.

I can’t think of one trade down that worked out for the the team that slid down for an extra pick.
