Agree about the defense. We need a vet lock down guy for the top 4. Free up more space for Dahlin and Power to do their thing.

One thing that is really clear looking at the goalie data is guys who face a high volume of high danger chances are generally negative in GSAA. A few break even and Anderson sticks out at +.3.

Not trying to defend the goalies, but they do expose them. Just makes the decision to invest nothing in net that much more annoying.

We ALL saw it last year that they needed a solid, proven goalie.

24 starts in 6 years in the league and he was a few days shy of his 27th birthday. I get goalies take the longest to round into form, but it was the height of folly to depend on a guy who can play once every 10 days, UPL, and a 27 year old whose played almost no games in the NHL. And fück Levi, they could've signed a journeyman, like another Anderson, on a 1 year deal that doesn't block Levi in the slightest. That's no excuse.

This is why you use GSAx in tandem. To limit that variable.

I'm looking at Levi's college peers in Miller and Hellebuyck and it will be hard to fathom him not developing into a good goalie, at least.

Oh I agree they do expose them. That’s why I’m saying a modest 6 points.

But 6 points is huge.

There’s absolutely no reason a team that scores as much as the Sabres do won’t qualify for the playoffs
