Jost has made it tough, guy has played himself onto this team. Okposo is finished, he just can't keep up in this system. If you want Vet leadership you keep Girgensons. But in my Eyes it's Tuch Dahlin Tage Cozens Skinner that will lead this team

If this is the case, fűck that

That seems superfluous. Guys like Skinner, Thompson, and Tuch should be more than enough to take that on. Not to mention Dahlin, but he seems more like a "lead by example" kind of guy though that's speculation on my part. I have no idea what he's like in the room.

Agreed, but if you keep 1, I would think it's Girgensons. Okposo can't skate anymore

In all seriousness, what positive(s) comes with resigning the stinky lion eater?

I'd like for Greenway to get 30-40 games on this team. Everyone knew this kid is more or less a reclamation project. He's toolsy but needs help with decision making.
- TheSabresTaco

I see flashes of offense that I like, but where's the physicality and strong defense we were supposedly buying? The only time I saw him even looking a Caps player in the eyes yesterday was while on the bench.

I yelled at the TV, "NO!" when he started overcommitting on that first PP goal. He thought was even strength? That was pretty tough stuff.

Depth. I'd assume he'll get a deal elsewhere, but he's fine as a 12/13th forward. If he stayed it wouldn't be for long, he'd be cheap, he's decent defensively and scores a dozen despite only getting 12mins with a high percentage of d-zone starts.

Allowing a college player who has proven nothing dictate what moves you make is not expected.
It’s asinine. Are you to tell me that the Sabres didn’t want to make a move at goalie to help this year because it sends a bad message to Levi?

Didn’t we all just collectively tell Portillo to (frank) off because he didn’t want to compete for a job?

If Levi just wants to be handed a spot then (frank) him too.

- ImThatGuy

It was 100% expected. Levi owes this organization nothing, they didn't draft him and they don't pay him so he can do what he wants. They want to woo him so that he decides to sign, that means you bend, especially a player of his caliber in his league. You can be mad about it but that's what it is, he dictates when he signs and if he doesn't like it he can leave and the trade you made is basically worthless.

Portillo has for years looked like he was going to jump ship, the second he declared he was going back to school everyone knew he wasn't going to be in Buffalo. If Levi does the same they are (frank)ed. It's the risk you take with college players, especially ones that are good and have a market. If you bring in a Saros a guy like Levi might say "hey, screw that, I'll go back to school next year and then go to a team that has a clear path to the NHL and hasn't sucked since I was 10"

If I had to choose between going out and getting an established NHL proven goalie and risk potentially upsetting Levi, or bending to Levi, I’m picking the established NHL goalie.

There is no guarantee Levi will be a great NHL goaltender.

For (frank)s sake this team needs to start acting like they are a quality professional organization and not some second rate farm team

Hey Levi, we still want you to be a part of our very near future, but just wanted to let you know we went out and acquired Saros to help our team win this year. Not only that we think Saros Will be extremely beneficial to you as you navigate your first year in the league.

See how not (frank)ing hard this is?

I don’t see a scenario where this is the case.

I think Girgensons is a goner. Okposo goes to FO. Olofsson is doing a good job running himself out of town. Hinostroza is gone.

Jost is interesting. He obviously can be effective, but how much do they want to pay their 4C? I can see them moving on in the name of cap savings.

I’m hoping if this version of Greenway persists, they decide to move on quite quickly

- sbroads24

I like Jost. His faceoff percentage bothers me. I want my 4C to win faceoffs like Goose/Larry Lazar.

I really like the rest of his game.

I have no indication that they value faceoffs a-tall

He's scored a dozen once in the past 6 seasons.

More importantly, they've never sat him for other players.

If they extend him, what makes you think he'll be the 13th forward, at any point during a season?

They really shouldn’t in terms of roster construction. I get wanting a guy. But I just don’t think it’s something to target
