Boeser Demko forsling, tree, McCann, Hughes, Petterson, podkolzin, guadette and hogs. There’s a number of GM’s that didn’t do as well is that in the same time span and I’m sure I’m even missing some that will have decent NHL careers.

He was a disaster with his cap and ufa signings, i completely agree there. Some of the worst UFA contracts given out in the last ten years were his imo. He did still manage to draft some of the best players weve ever had.

Look at the Rangers, so many misses! But fortunetly for them, compitent trades were made and UFA signings. They also focused on drafting D more. His tenure was pretty terrible, im just not a throw the baby out with the bathwater type.

Since you won't put the work in, let me do it for you. Any team that drafted top ten, where Benning consistently drafted, meaning he should've drafted at the top of every round, can come up with a list of players to what you've described.

From 2014, Benning's best draft, to 2021, just pick a random team and list the players they drafted. You're going to find similar lists. His drafting was 100% nothing special, considering him missing so badly on Virtanen and Juolevi he probably sits near the bottom during that time frame.

Carolina...16 players who've played 100 or more NHL games and only two top five picks in Hanifin and Svechnikov. You named five good NHL players in Demko, Boeser, Forsling, McCann and Pettersson in eight years of drafting, that's not poor, but it's also not good when you compare it apples to apples for teams with similar draft positions.
