Helenius is on Team Finland for the World Tournament. Perhaps this FORWARD will move up on some scouting lists should he perform well. There may be a limited amount of games to show, however, as Finland is not one of the better teams |

How is either of these teams going home in the first round. Man i hate the playoff format.
Ya some blown coverage bang back of the net. - SaskHawkFan
I hear you, what a game, what a series. I don't think i saw 5 on the ice for the 3rd period

69% of the NHL used LTIR to go over the cap during the season. Toronto was over the most at $14.5 mil., Tampa was 2nd at $ 10 mil. Then Vegas at a little over $ 8 mil. - LAHawk
All three of those teams ended up losing in round one. I don't think it had anything to do with their LTIR use, but it's interesting. |

Went to the IceHogs game. Reichel's 2 goals were NHL quality for sure. 5 on 5 did not do much. Lots of blind passes that were turnovers. Commesso let in a bad goal in the first but was a brick wall in the 2nd period with a couple of great saves. I know there are a lot of Kaiser fans here and he did play hard but lost his edge several times and didn't do much. Phillips took a selfish penalty. Did not add much offense. Didn't hit anybody. Roos could have been called for 5 cross checks. Did not add much. Crevier was not noticeable which is pretty good for him. I've seen DelMastro a few times live and he looks slow to me. I noticed he was not racing to get into plays. Does looks solid along boards. Knocked pucks out of the air. I don't think Strand is a prospect but he played hard. Not too much there to be excited about.
The highlight of the game was running into Vosters between the 2nd and 3rd. He's polarizing I know. Foley is a tough act to follow. I think if the this was a 100 point team he would sound a lot better. Class act. Answered everything I asked him.
Of the Hogs roster he said he was hoping Reichel would pan out. Likes the young D. Said it is going to take more time because the real prospects have not made it to the Hogs yet.
I asked him if it was hard to be critical of the players now that he travels with them and knows them well. Said he lets Pang be critical because he played in the NHL.
Said he's still recovering from the season. Watching every playoff game, reading, studying the league. NBC hired him for the Paris Olympics. Not sure what sport but working it from NBC studios in New York. - stevefrmglencoe
First of all thank you for providing review of the game and particularly the prospects we are keen to follow
I saw Allen did not play/probably injured
I was hoping that our dmen could help drive the play. Instead I think Grand Rapids prospects were better.
I do not think we have a top dman prospect at Rockford; I do think that Del Mastro and Allen could be serviceable descent but never ascend to first pair unless the talent level is really bad
Crevier and Kaiser could contribute as third pair dmen but neither is consistent enough yet. Each has individual strength or tool set worthy or valuable if they perform consistent defensively. Whereas it comes to Phillips I’ve not been impressed with his smarts and If there is a need for a strong (strength) player to have some nastiness, Phillips sure would help his game by playing with some bite, some edginess
So after reviewing these dmen prospects, if Eiserman is snatched already I would take a dman who hopefully could rise to become better than the guys I just mentioned in Rockford

Cool insight sfg, especially the Vosters part. I don’t think he takes the position lightly, I just think he’s still feeling out how to do it properly.
Sounds like the whole team was kind of lackluster tonight. I didn’t watch, but the previous three that was not the case. GR does seem to have more talent (at least that is closer to NHL ready). |

Lundqvist is the Dallas dman with the least amount of experience. Barring an injury that may why he had 3:19 TOI.
Last season playoffs the veteran Suter was bad. Better this playoffs so far |

BTW the Icehogs season has ended as Grand Rapids (Red Wings) moves on to the next round.
FYI
The opening round AHL playoffs is best of five format. A very good Milwaukee Admirals (Nashville) team trails 2-0 vs the Texas (Dallas Stars) team |

No doubt. He has been a huge success for Dallas and maybe helps them get to the top of the heap. A good reminder that it's possible for us to draft a good contributor with Tampa's 20th overall pick. |

I was glad to see Lukas Reichel with a couple goals to see him into the off season. I wonder if he is playing for Germany in the Worlds. |

Kaiser with a really nice pass to set up Reichel's second (a nice slapper from a sharp angle on the right side).

Kind of incredible that pass made it through about 4 opposing players to make it Lukas Reichel. I kind of ask myself, does that not get picked off about 9 times out of 10 at the NHL level? |

Could be, but still a pretty nice pass. Not comparing the players, but we saw Bedard make a few passes that got past 3-4 defenders this year. |

I mean yeah it worked out and it looks pretty when it does, just seems like a low percentage play to try to get it through so many players.
I think Bedard certainly made passes like that, but also had passes that were picked off and the play was dead. I think it actually got better as the year went on, Bedard got used to his linemates more and trusted them to cycle the puck around more than just trying to make an insane play by himself. The powerplay got better when more players were involved with moving the puck around, vs early in the year it was just pass to Bedard and see what happens.

I'm not expecting (or advocating for) players to continually try passes like this. I just thought it was an impressive pass and shot. Fingers crossed that they can go into next year with some confidence. |

I called my Rectum cable provider to find out why the channel listing still has NHL hockey and not NHL lottery in the 7 pm Tuesday ESPN spot.
They assured me that IT WAS what was going to be on, even though the listing has still not been changed.
I need a conatct number NHL channel or REAL email as I am so frustrated they lsisted the World Junior Tourney times, never adjusted the listing on my cable, and even though I tapea 30 min earlier and hour late I STILL missed large parts pf the broadcasts because they NEVER have them. correct, or adjusted.
I cannpot blame just Rectum cable - part it the NHL channel's lack of seriuosness in their programming! |

Why Wiz, wiz?
. - Mr Ricochet
I thought what Marqarita Bob MacKenzie write this morning is so pertinent to the slots:
MacKenzie:
"Buckle up because it looks like it’s going to be an unpredictable ride.
As one scout put it, “Celebrini is going No. 1, but the next five or six teams [picking after No. 1] might all get the No. 2 prospect on their [respective] lists. There’s that much varied opinion [on the top prospects after Celebrini].The lack of clear consensus beyond Celebrini — from No. 2 through to No. 10 and beyond — would be unprecedented. I’ve been doing draft rankings like this one for more than 35 years, and I don’t recall a year where the Top 10 is such a hodgepodge of opinion.”
Over the last weeks this is what all my goofy mental exercises, pulling prospects in and out of the top dozen has been about...the possibilities.
And it isn't about comparing attributes...take Tig Iginla...I have to think there are more teams anamored than teams seeing him as simple mid 6 forward based on his hockey IQ, competitiveness and contagious spirit.
Teams don't have bad opinons as much as they see players that seem to fit for them better than best player andI am expecting go thinking in their long shots, becasue they ARE NOT THAN that LONG of a shot in this top 13.... |

Yeah. I don't mean to sound like I'm being critical of you. I'm just commenting in general that I find the play interesting from a risk vs reward aspect. It's hard to be too critical when the play worked out and they scored, but the back of my mind wonders how likely that pass would be picked off at the NHL level.
Kind of reminds me of the plays where the skilled forward tries to skate through the D to make an individual play. Odds are often good they will lose the puck, turn it over and the team transitions to defense, but there is the chance they manage to pull it off, it's a pretty play. |
