Sorry to hear of your latest bout with your health issues, You were cranking out articles rather steadily ti the past few days. As always, I wish the best for you and your ongoing fight with trying to remain healthy.
I hope Simon is able to adjust to the pace of the NHL rather quickly, but only for the max of 9 games this season. I would hope he be a regular next year.

Jeremy, there’s nothing more important than your health, coming from someone whose had many bouts of ill health. Take care of YOU! Knowing your struggles and how you’ve pushed through them to continue to blog is humbling to us. Thank you, my friend. Heal yourself, we can keep the blog going (nowhere near as well as you) until you’re in a position to get back to us.

VERY excited to see Simon Eddy make his debut, been anticipating this moment for a while. No extravagant expectations, but am looking to see what he can bring to the ice.

I am not enjoying watching this team much anymore this season but I do enjoy reading your articles. I hope you feel better and get back to writing regularly.

Well THAT was kinda painful to watch. On a good note; Eddy looked pretty solid, seemed to anricipate puck movement, laid a couple pretty good hits, and even sprawled out to clear the puck from the D-Zone. I'm excited to see how he progresses.

Vrana now with 5 points in his 6 games with the Blues... 4 goals, 1 assist. Good grief... this is exactly what I thought would happen. He's now on their top line... surprise, surprise. Gee.. ya think the Wings could have used a few of those goals while getting embarrassed the last couple of weeks ? Blues will probably re-sign him and lock him up. This looks like an epic fail on Yzerman's part... at least at this point in time. Amazing what can happen when you give a talented natural goal scorer a chance to play and some ice time.

Trading Vrana for nothing was an epic disaster. The fans deserve to know what was so bad that he was dealt for nothing or is Yzerman just a petty person. I believe that Vrana will outscore everyone of our players next year. This deal was a joke and it’s sad for the fans of the wings. At least with evander Kane the fans knew why he was traded. Every fan is like a shareholder for buying team merchandise, tickets etc so when a real beyond stupid trade is made the shareholders should know why such a move was made.

Agreed that he should have gotten more, however he would have had to wait till the off-season and hope he produced during the rest of the year when he was often scratched. To me it's whatever, sounds like he was not a great teammate so I'm fine with him being removed for under market value. He gets fresh start and we save some money.

I don't know about this shareholder thing. If I buy an iPhone that'l does not make me a shareholder in apple.

I agree with this 100%. We live in a society that thinks we are owed everything. Your individual power comes from your choice to support something or not, in this case by watching, buying tickets, or buying team gear. If you do not like the way this team operates maybe find another team to support as you have no true stake in the business side of this.

I agree that the deal was awful but I'm a firm believer in the value of culture and clearly Yzerman values that as well. As for sharing the circumstances with fans, Yzerman is completely doing the right thing by not going public with that. He has big enough shoulders to accept criticism for the trade rather than possibly ruining someone's career. Doing right by players and taking the high road will pay off in the long run.

I agree that Yzerman is doing the right thing by not going public about his reasoning. That's not information that fans are entitled to, and if Vrana doesn't want to talk about it, it should stay between the team and the player.

However, that does not necessarily mean Yzerman's reasoning was sound or his decision was correct. I do think we can fairly assume that Vrana is not exactly blameless when it comes to the souring of the relationship, which is why Yzerman's silence on the details is appropriate. But what we do not know, and cannot know without an explanation, is whether Yzerman's response was justified, or whether it was unnecessarily unfair, petty, or vindictive.

Yzerman believes he made the correct call, certainly. Vrana does not. Furthermore, presumably St. Louis' management team was fully informed about the situation and decided Vrana was still worth acquiring.

Ultimately how you feel about this one comes down to whether or not you trust Yzerman to make a rational, objective, quality decision in this scenario. To be honest, I'm not really sure I do. I do think that, overall, Yzerman is a good GM who makes more good personnel decisions than bad ones. I also would not be surprised to discover that he's seriously overreacting in this situation.
