Question for you all who follow Seattle a bit more. Where does Wright play next year? Will they allow him to take a middle six center position or is it better for him to start on the wing?

Also if he plays, who does he push out of the lineup? They had such a great year and they have plenty of cap space to keep just about everyone. Curious.

I think with Wright it depends on how he comes in and does in camp. Beniers is locked. Wennberg and Gourde likely arent coming out and leaves Gerkie (an RFA). You could shift Wright and or Wennberg/Geekie to wing as well. There's some glexability there really.

Got to keep stocking up the prospect pool and Framcis is pretty patient. Avoided big splashes at the TDL so dont think he will go nuts in trades/ufa.

Wright is a question mark, but Kartye should be up. Burakovsky will be back too.

Think its like 11/12 forward spots filled already.

Really that Dunn contract is going to be a question mark there. Honestly hope they keep Soucy. Moreso I think than Borgen. Soucy plays both sides and can move for a big guy. Has that heavy shot too. Problem is I suspect someone will really overpay him.

Gru / Dreidger

Larsson - Oleksiak
Dunn - Schultz
Soucy or Borgen - Evans

Eberle - Beniers - Schwartz
Burakovsky - Wennberg - Kartye
McCann - Gourde - Tolvanen
Tanev - Wright - Bjorkstrand

Still got to make a call on RFA Geekie, Donato, Sprong

And those arent lines just putting bodies down fyi.

Some decisions to be made clearly. With older guys like Eberle on last year of their contracts thinking we will start to see the turnover more next year.

they have a great amount of lineup flexibility. Its really neat to watch. If they hand the C over to Gourde, would it make sense to throw Wright on his wing. Might have some good mentorship?

Definitely want Vince Dunn back, but the terms need to make sense. I've heard talking heads mention $8M+ and that would be ridiculous. I'd like it to be around $6.5M but that might be wishful thinking.

I hope we don't bring Soucy back. He's a liability, takes too many dumb penalties and treats the puck like a hand grenade when he's under pressure. Somebody likely will pay him $3M+ and I'd let him walk at that price. Bring in someone who is more comfortable handling the puck.

Shane Wright will be an interesting one. He's not exactly lighting up the scoreboard at Coachella, and he will still be only 19 at the start of the season, so I'd give him a shot but would be totally fine letting him develop more in Coachella next year. As long as it's handled better than it was this past year.

I'd like to see Borgen back. Up front will likely just be tweaks once you factor Kartye in for a spot and Burakovsky coming back. Won't be surprised if Donato and Sprong are gone.

Thanks Sean

Don’t sign Dunn at too much based on one year. Long term I don’t think he’s going to get PP1 time, and his point totals are going to start normalizing. I like that $6.5 number tossed out there.

At the moment Wright’s future is hazy. Based on CHL-NHL rules he has to play in the NHL or CHL. The American league isn’t an option. Now, they could count the COVID cancelled season as a year which would help, but he still didn’t play enough games in the CHL because his team got swept in the playoffs. Bad luck! So he’s still short one season of junior hockey.

Keep the picks, maybe even get some more for RFA’s you are moving on from.

Wright was given exceptional status. Normally its age 20 or completing 4 years. Wrights issue is the OHL shut down a season due to covid. So he would normally be able to be in the AHL at 19 much like Joe Veleno. So 23/24 season he SHOULD be able to go to the A but guessing that is going to be a league thing to sort out. Thats assuming he doesnt make the Kraken roster.

Agree on Dunn and price point but have to think he wants to hit a honerun and 8+. Dont think I'd go there. Soucy or Borgen I think its going to be one or the other. I like Soucy's ability to play both sides more and think he might be better playing with Evans over Borgen but... have to wait and see.

Im ok with Sprong gone. I do like Donato though. Great work ethic but... with Hayden and Lind et all as depth I agree he likely is going to go too.

Yes, except that he didn’t meet the minimum games played for this most recent season either. Because he started in Seattle, had a conditioning stint in Coachella, back to Seattle, World Juniors and then to the OHL, where he got injured and missed several games and then got knocked out early in the playoffs. So of the 4 years he’s only played 2 seasons.

Never heard of a minimum games played and could find no mention of such. Only they need complete 4 seasons. Nor anything that being injured or playing for the Worlds wipes out games. As per the agreement too they ARE allowed the 10 games limit up and that doesnt affect anything other than they have to go down to junior (save that conditioning stint rule which was sneaky brilliant of Francis).

That said couldnt find a single copy of the actual transfer agreement online either. And they did recently ammend/extend it out too

Yeah, it’s specifically vague, and not available. Basically the CHL has a minimum number of games played required for a player to have played “a season”, and what has been reported is that Wright fell shy of that mark by one game.

The CHL could allow him to graduate, but if they want to be Richards about it they could make him play in the CHL again next year if he doesn’t make the NHL roster.

Thats going to be an interesting wrinkle and fight there then. Especially given their exemptions for players with the lost season who pkayed over 20ahl games and the likes. Reminds me of the Raffi Torres situation there.

On a completely different note, Coachella took Game 1 6-4 from the Milwaukee Admirals to open the Western Conference Finals.

Max McCormick with a 3rd period hatty and Kartye headed back down and notches a goal and assist! Game 2 saturday night here.

Coachella can get by the Admirals, its Calder Cup in their first year of existence? Crazy!!

Assistant Coach Jay Leach talking to the Rangers on their coaching vacancy too.

Crazy is or ain’t it that we seen this one before…?

Krak it back and sign them all cheap. Trade them if they don’t like it. See no worries it all works out.

Ok as deluded and comical as this statement is.... explain WHY Ronnie would trade one of his top prospects for 2 years at 5.5mil a season on Konecky, a winger who doesn't fit especially given prospect depth and 11 of the 12 forward soots already filled?! Not to mention needing to sign Dunn and rfa/ufa players and this would take up a quarter of available cap space.

Coachella up 3-1 in 3rd.

D'Accord in net. True, Froden, and Petman with goals. Wright is in and hax an assist on the 3rd goal.

3-2 15 min to go

Still 3-2 5min to go now. Now 2min

And McCormick pops the ENG!!! 4-2 Firebirds. Twarynski makes it a 5-2 win!! Up 2-0 in the series

Two more wins they are playing for the Calder Cup.

Honestly it is great experience and development. Kartye, Wright, Evans, Olafsson, McCormick et all just get that taste of success and development. I expect it could fuel some good competition for next seasons training camp.

It is also giving a great look at maybe keeping a few around like D'Accord and Froden for some depth.

Always want that success with the farm team.

Yes great experience could translate well to form new Krak core. Who slots in where and when?

Considering it makes zero sense, and there has been ZERO news on this, going to be interesting to hear that. When is this supposed press conference again?
