The Carolina Hurricanes made nine more selections on Day Two of the 2023 NHL Draft today.

The Hurricanes had also previously selected forward Bradly Nadeau with the 30th overall pick in the first round yesterday. Here are how the remaining picks looked:

FELIX UNGER-SOROM (2nd Round, 62nd Overall) - With their first pick of the day, the Hurricanes selected Swedish winger Felix Unger-Sorom. The forward spent the majority of the season playing junior hockey in Sweden, registering 46 points in 42 games, and also got into seven SHL games.

JAYDEN PERRON (3rd Round, 94th Overall) - The Hurricanes were originally supposed to select at 71st, but traded the pick to the Sharks for picks 94 and 100 instead. As a result, they took Perron with the 94th pick, who had great production playing in the USHL this season. The winger scored 24 goals and 72 points in 61 games with the Chicago Steel but is quite undersized, standing at just 5-foot-9.

ALEXANDER RYKOV (4th Round, 100th Overall) - As a result of the trade with San Jose, they were able to pick once again only six spots later and took Russian winger Alexander Rykov. The forward spent the majority of the season in the VHL, Russia’s second-highest professional league, where he scored four goals and 11 points in 20 games.

STANISLAV YAROVOI (4th Round, 126th Overall) - Passed over in previous drafts, Yarovoi is turning 20 years old in August, but was already a KHL regular this season. The winger scored nine goals and 16 points in 45 games in Russia's top league.

CHARLES-ALEXIS LEGAULT (5th Round, 139th Overall) - Like Yarovoi, Legault was also an older draft pick. The right-handed blue liner is 6-foot-3, weighing more than 200 pounds, and registered nine points in 40 NCAA games with Quinnipac this season.

RUSLAN KHAZHEYEV (5th Round, 158th Overall) - At 158th overall, Carolina selected their first goalie. For a fifth round draft pick, Khazheyev posted very good numbers in the MHL, registering a .923 save percentage in 23 games.

TIMUR MUKHANOV (6th Round, 163rd Overall) - The undersized forward (5-foot-8) split the year between the VHL and MHL in Russia this season. He posted eight goals and 17 points in 15 MHL games, along with four goals and eight points in 31 VHL games.

MICHAEL EMERSON (6th Round, 190th Overall) - A teammate of Perron’s with the Chicago Steel, Emerson managed 30 goals and 64 points in 60 USHL games. Like some others drafted by Carolina, he’ll also be turning 20 years old later this year.

YEGOR VELMAKIN (7th Round, 222nd Overall) - With the Hurricanes’ final pick, they opted to select another netminder. Velmakin is also 20 years old and posted an excellent .937 save percentage in 12 VHL games, along with a

Meanwhile, as reported by Chris Johnston, forward Jesse Puljujarvi underwent double hip surgery and won’t receive a qualifying offer from the Hurricanes.

Even without the surgery, it was never likely that the Hurricanes would qualify Puljujarvi. The winger had a $3M qualifying offer to meet and managed only two assists in 17 regular season games after being acquired by the Hurricanes, then got into only seven playoff games. Carolina would be better off to use their cap space elsewhere.
