Looking to further extend their five-game home winning streak, Ken Hitchcock's Dallas Stars (8-6-0) host Paul Maurice's Winnipeg Jets (7-3-3) on Monday night. Game time at the American Airlines Center is 7:30 p.m. CT. The game will be televised on Fox Sports Southwest.

The Stars enter this game coming off a 5-1 home win against the Buffalo Sabres. Dallas built a 4-0 lead within the first 13 minutes of the game and never looked back.

Callup forward Remi Elie (1st goal of the season, 2nd of his NHL career) got the Stars off to a lead at 3:09 of the first period. By the end of the opening stanza, Radek Faksa (3rd) and Stephen Johns (2nd) brought some additional much-welcomed secondary scoring with Gemel Smith assisting on both goals.

The lead grew to 4-0 at 12:51 with a goal from an expected source: a power play tally by Tyler Seguin.

The Sabres made a push in the second period, outshooting the Stars by an 11-4 margin but could only manage to trade off a mid-period Ryan O'Reilly bleeder off a faceoff win for a late-period Antoine Roussel goal that restored a four-goal margin for Dallas. There was no scoring in the third period.

Martin Hanzal is expected to return to the lineup on Monday after a three-game absence. However, Radek Faksa (lower body), Tyler Pitlick (upper body) and Brett Ritchie (IR, upper body) are unavailable. Hitchcock told the media on Monday that he may dress seven defensemen for this game and have Jamie Oleksiak skate shifts as a forward.

Ben Bishop will start in goal on Monday. On Saturday, Kari Lehtonen stopped 27 of 28 shots to earn the win.

The Jets have posted at least one point in seven straight games (4-0-3) but saw a three-game winning streak come to an end in a 5-4 overtime loss to the Canadiens on Saturday. Winnipeg benefited from a 45-save performance by Connor Hellebuyck and brought a 4-2 lead into the finald stanza but were unable to close out the game successfully and settled for one point.

Jets forward Mathieu Perrault (lower body) is unlikely to play on Monday.
