The Dallas Stars came up short against the Winnipeg Jets for the second time in a span of five nights. On Nov. 2 in Winnipeg, the Jets climbed out to a 3-0 lead in the first 15:16 of the game and never looked back on the way to a 5-2 victory.

On Monday night, the scene shifted to the American Airlines Center. The venue may have changed but the game itself was nearly a carbon copy to the first, Once again, the Jets got out to a quick 3-0 lead and, yet again, they skated off at the end of the night with a three-goal margin of victory. As he did in the first meeting, Mark Scheifele shredded the Stars offensively. The only difference was the final score (4-1) and Scheifele bagging "just" two goals instead of a a hat trick.

This time around, Winnipeg scored in the opening half-minute (26 seconds) of the game and the final minute of the first period: two surefire recipes for disaster. In between, the Jets tallied a power play goal that put the Stars down a pair of goals in the opening six minutes.

Jamie Benn notched the lone Dallas goal. In addition to the two Scheifele markers, Patrik Laine and Kyle Connor scored for the Jets while Blake Wheeler assisted on all four Winnipeg goals.

Ben Bishop stopped 22 of 25 shots in a losing cause, getting much better as the game progressed. Connor Hellebuyck made 33 saves as the Jets improved to 8-3-3. The Stars dropped to 8-7-0 and saw their five-game home winning streak snapped.

The Jets opened the scoring on a line rush tally just 26 seconds after the opening faceoff. Scheifele did the damage, snapping a shot home from the right circle. At 5:13, with Winnipeg on its first power play, Laine wired a wristed from the top of the left circle that found the net. With 56 seconds left in the first period, the Jets scored on a two-on-one as Dallas defenseman Dan Hamhuis fell down and Winnipeg bounced. Wheeler fed the puck to Connor, who scored from the doorstep.

Dallas made a push in the second period. Benn got the Stars back within 3-1 with a second-period power play tally for his 8th goal of the season. John Klingberg's point shot banked off the end boards directly to the Stars' captain, who took care of the rest. Winnipeg used its challenge on the play to claim goaltender interference, but were charged with a timeout after replays upheld the original call. Benn led all players in the game with 11 shots on goal.

Bishop authored several key saves to keep the game within reach, but Dallas never drew any closer. The Stars had a 6-on-4 power play late in the game. Scheiefele ended all hopes of a miracle comeback with an empty net goal to ice a 4-1 win.

The Stars technically dressed seven defensemen for this game but defenseman Jamie Oleksiak skated as a forward. He was used very sparingly by Ken Hitchcock, however, skating just 4:44 across seven shifts.

On Friday, the Stars will play host to the New York Islanders at the AAC.
