The Columbus Blue Jackets allowed 3 goals in 5:48 leading to the 3-0 shutout for the season series sweep for the Montreal Canadiens. All three goals came in the beginning of the first period, with Elvis allowing the goals on 4 shots faced.

You cannot ask out of a place and expect yourself to play like this to face value. Only way he goes is buyout. Nobody will take this salary and for that long. Numbers matter, and Elvis’ continues to worsen despite desires elsewhere. This is embarrassing. Tarasov stood on his head to cover up the mistakes of Merzlikins.

This cannot continue. Maybe Cleveland is the step to save some dollars.

Period I

Brendan Gallagher opened the scoring 48 seconds in for his 11th of the campaign from Jake Evans.

Juraj Slafkovsky got the powerplay goal for his 14th of the struggling season for him with the helpers going to Mike Matheson and Cole Caufield.

Josh Roy recorded his fourth on the year and Arber Xhekaj and Alex Newhook got the apples.

Cayden Primeau had 41 saves on route to shutout.

Daniil Tarasov in relief stopped all 19 shots faced.

Carson Meyer in his Columbus debut had about 10 minutes ice time, 2 hits, and a minor penalty.

CBJ THREE STARS OF THE GAME

1. Daniil Tarasov — 19 saves

2. Zach Werenski — 8 shots, 26:32TOI

3. Carson Meyer — CBJ 23-24 regular season debut
