The West feels tighter than the East in some ways, but depending on your perspective ther could be a no brainer here….lets get into it…
Winnipeg:
The Jets are a machine from top to bottom. They have easily the best power-play in the NHL, and they have shown an ability to go on streaks, which is what you need to do in the playoffs. They have the best goalie in the West as well. I was once told by a very famous coach that if you want to predict a playoff series, pick the team with the best power-play and the best goalie…. If that stays true, Winnipeg could be impossible to beat.
Vegas
Today the Golden Knights extended Aidan Hill for six years, so he is your goalie… I like him, but I don’t love him… however he seems to play well behind the style that the Vegas Golden Knights play. They’re always a threat. There are no two ways about it. Vegas can beat anybody in a series…Eichel has another level…
Edmonton:
This has to be the hardest team to predict as far as the playoffs go. The regular season has been kind of underwhelming. However, they went to the Stanley Cup finals last year and it’s quite possible that they’re set up for a long playoff run. Obviously the two superstars on this team make it always a challenge. However, the goaltending is good not great…, and I don’t feel they are as deep up and down the lineup as they did last year.. this could change of course if Evander Kane comes back and makes an impact. Or if McDavid wills it to be…
LA Kings…
If there’s a dark horse in either conference to win the Stanley Cup, it would have to be the LA Kings. When they’re playing at their best, they look unbeatable. They are likely to play Edmonton in the first round and I think this year will be the year they could eliminate Edmonton. I don’t know that they can go to the final, but they could definitely be the team that surprises everyone. They can compete with the other five on this list for sure, but can they win four out of seven?
Dallas:
The Stars are loaded for bear. This is the deepest this teams ever been, and they have a legit chance to take the entire thing. Their problem is the next team on this list. The road to the Stanley Cup in my opinion runs through…….
Colorado
The Aalanche have everything they need to hoist the Stanley Cup. Brock Nelson was a sneaky. Awesome pick up for a team that didn’t even need another scoring speedy center. The defense on this team is crazy good….the goaltending has been solid and more than enough… They really have no weaknesses…. And if they ever get the power-play working like it could. I don’t know that anybody in the East can stop them either…. They are my pic to go to the Stanley Cup Final and face Florida….
