Kasper’s goal compilation from this season. If you missed it, yesterday I posted a compilation of every goal Marco Kasper scored in his rookie season, as well as some thoughts about his development. Just click the link above.

When the shots are 31-30 and you go to a shootout 1-1, the goalies were doing something special. At one point, Grand Rapids had been outshot 20-10 but outshot the Wild 15-6 as they closed that gap and headed into overtime outshooting Iowa 28-25. Iowa dominated in shots in OT 6-2 but Campbell made some huge saves including a 3 save set that looked nearly impossible.

Sandin-Pellikka had some chances and seems to have adjusted well. He knows when to skate the puck and when to pass. Brandsegg-Nygard is not yet quite up to speed. He had passes picked off and it seemed clear he was miscalculating how much time he had. That’s the big adjustment. To be frank, ASP looks like he will be a special player for Detroit and MBN needs to make some big adjustments. It’s his rookie year, so it may be a scenario where the playoffs will help him find that time. Both players essentially had about a day to get acclimated and now they have next week to work out with the team.

The goal by Dries (below) was a beautiful pass by Shine. Iowa’s goalie was outstanding and it took a perfect shot to beat him. Grand Rapids got everything they needed from Campbell even with multiple dangerous turnovers. The Wild aren’t going to be in the post season so this was a game where they could (and did) give every ounce of what they had left in the tank. Well played by both.

Quick note - Buium and Johansson were both suspended for this one for leaving the bench and entering an altercation in the last game. Austin Watson played 4 games in 4 days (2 in Detroit, 2 in GR), and Danielson’s shootout goal was a beauty! Congrats to the Griffs and it could be a very exciting post season as Soderblom has now been reassigned to Grand Rapids.

1st Period goals:

At 10:27 Iowa opens the scoring as the Griffins turned it over in front of their own net. Griffs only have 2 shots, sloppy play in the first.
