Poke, Poke, Poke. As the bear wakes up from hibernation he knows that a disgruntled fan base has been throwing ideas off of Kevyn Adams' seven head, and it still seems that the happy go lucky guy has not gained consciousness in his cushy seat with no apparent repercussions. Has he been instructed to surround himself with hires that might turn into the hunger games, or has he gotten the hands to hold to guide him past his failures? There is no question in regards to his tenure. He has been given a pass. If free agency and the rest of the summer doesn't show a clear path, the grizzlies will paw him into Lake Erie never to see a professional career in hockey again. The Buffalo will stampede, and if he ever shows his face again on transit road, he will be polishing his golf clubs in a bathroom stall at a second rate country club. Enough is enough. The furry beast was recently seen on multiple ring cameras trotting through South Buffalo on his way to the arena. Did he stop to take a deuce at a Tim Horton's honoring the number, or was he looking to find someone who can wear eighty eight when the puck drops for the open of the season?
After January there was no reason to follow this teams destiny to failure, it was an inevitable path to be disgruntled. Our favorite team, our hearts on our sleeves, a front office in shambles. It is inconceivable that this disfunction has endured for years. The fans, the media, and the pets that make us whole seem to know better than the people getting paid the big bucks. It just isn't that hard to shake up the globe and force a path into the top sixteen. We have the money but not the guts. I have been waiting for a sign that people are ready to run through walls to be a part in putting Buffalo on the map once again. I thought Lindy would be able to force the adolescents to put selfishness and the petty stuff aside, but this has yet to be seen. I do not put it on him, he is the one who deserves the do over.
Our esteemed General Manager has a very short rhetoric that gets regurgitated time and time again. I truly don't comprehend how he can roll it out after selling it over and over after disappointing seasons results that have lost a generation.
"We need to be tougher to play against".... "We need to have the integrity to know how to win on a nightly basis"... These are the foundational aspects to a winning team. This is nothing new. Stop embarrassing yourself. If you have ever laced them up you are well aware that it is fight or flight when you are with the guys and the opposing team is coming after you. If you get to the show you should be respectful of it. Ask Gilbert Perreault if he would have ever like to make just one million dollars a year to play the game he loved. It is time to pay it forward to the fans and the people who think you are worthy to talk about. No more being careful with the lineup because you are worried about the future. No more players who are not proud of the crest. There is nothing left if we can't get to the playoffs. Do whatever it takes. You can't lose what has already been lost.
I understand that what I have said is not enough, but I am a proud Buffalonian and a true loyalist to the blue and gold. Hopefully the next few days or month gives us hope. We are all numb to the repetitive ineptitude. It is time to rock the boat. Get a true veteran in here who has enough in the tank to lead by example. A guy who has held the cup over his head. A man man who the locker room is in awe of.
To the actual hockey front and what has been going on, I am not all that disappointed in the moves that have been made in regards to shoring up our blueline. I know the acquisitional return for Peterka is not favorable for many, but you have to look below the surface. You got a solid right hand shot defenseman and a forward who has pedigree. The underlying aspect of these guys is that they just were a part of a USA championship with Tage Thompson. They are not strangers and this could very well enhance camaraderie amongst the troops. We will just have to see how it all pans out when the opening roster is set. All we can do is hope that there is a master plan to get us out of this epic drought.
Notes from the den that I constructed to protect myself during the worst of the winter while I was dormant.
Josh Norris we hardly know you. If you can play up to your salary and stay healthy it would be really interesting to see what your ceiling is. At this point we are all holding our breath. Are you really a number one center?
We were very lucky to acquire Ryan McLeod from the Oilers for a prospect that just might not pan out. When the stockade is full our management has to understand that losing Matt Savoie for an established NHL center is what we need more of. There is just not enough room on the big club for everyone to make it. We have to sign him to a decent contract. He is a perfect fit.
We will have to see what Mr. Adams has in regards to any clout when it comes to the formulation of this team in respect to acquisitions. I am not even sure if he is allowed up in cottage country with the big boys but this is his last chance. The people that were hired to help him apparently have not decided to even live here. Frankly I don't get it at all. We should not have to result to perimeter consultants who don't fully embrace us with their presence. I am a little confused.
Let's stop being this guy.
As always go Sabres. I want the best for all of us who care. Being engaged for the final twenty games was not easy. We need to see that they give as much as we do.
