The Rangers look to rebound from a disappointing loss to the Avalanche. After facing Martin Necas and Jack Drury with their new team Sunday, New York gets to take on Mikko Rantanen on his. The Blueshirts are on the midst of a critical and rough seven game stretch leading into the 4 Nations Faceoff with games against Boston (home and away), Vegas (home), Pittsburgh (home) and Columbus (road) remaining.

Rangers lineup vs. Hurricanes:

Panarin-Trocheck-Lafrenière
Cuylle-Zibanejad-Smith
Kreider-Chytil-Kaliyev
Edström-Carrick-Rempe

Lindgren-Fox
Miller-Borgen
Vaakanainen-Schneider

Shesterkin
Quick

Scratches: Vesey, Jones, Brodzinski

The lineup today is the same as Sunday and has been the same for a while. Jimmy Vesey and Zac Jones continue to fossilize in the press box. But who would you take out to play either of them? Barring injury or egregious mistakes, this will likely be the unit on the use until the break.

Peter Laviolette praised Vincent Trocheck and Ryan Lindgren as leaders who have stepped up post Jacob Trouba trade. I think we all believe Trocheck could end up being the future captain of this team. But Lindgren is scheduled to be a free agent after the season. Larry Brooks’ column today coupled withLaviolette’s comments certainly raised the Spectre and thought that Lindgren could possibly be re-signed and remain a Ranger.

In other news, it is clear that the Elias Pettersson and JT Miller duo has run its course. The only question right now is who gets treated first and to where. Vancouver could end up tearing it down to the studs - meaning Quinn Hughes - and it’s clear changes are forthcoming. Could that mean one of the two lands in New York?
