The Winnipeg Jets have come to terms with defenseman Logan Stanley on a two-year contract worth $1.8 million in total.

The 23-year old restricted free agent is coming off an impressive rookie season that saw the former first-round pick play in 37 games, eight more in the playoffs.

As the season moved alone, you could see Stanley’s confidence growing as he got more comfortable with his game and his surroundings.

The Jets bolstered their blue line over the last few weeks by trading for Nate Schmidt and Brendan Dillon, instantly giving the Jets some much needed depth on the back end.

While Stanley has been slow to develop since his draft year in 2016, and still has a lot to prove, Stanley’s play last season was an encouraging step forward. So much so, that the Jets protected Stanley over veteran Dylan DeMelo.

Stanley is likely destined for a third pairing role next season, taking a bit of pressure off him with certain matchups and a heavy dose of ice time no longer needed with the Jets additions on the back end.

With Stanley now under contract, that leaves the Jets with two remaining RFAs to sign: Andrew Copp and Neal Pionk.
