In their second preseason game this September, the Golden Knights pulled away with a 4-3 victory after a nice passing play led to a Marchessault goal. With a remarkable ten minor penalties in the third — it’s surprising the score wasn’t even higher.

Here are some player reports following tonight’s win:

Forwards

Marchessault
Buzzing all night. Scored of a nice cross crease feed from Smith.

Karlsson
Kept play going nicely. Laid it up to the point at the perfect time and Pietrangelo got a nice goal off the feed.

Smith
Quietly put his work in last night. Very nice set up of the fourth goal.

Dugan
Another impressive performance. Dugan won’t be held off the team for long.

Howden
Was decent on the penalty kill. Accidentally tipped a Jack Johnson shot past Brossoit to give Colorado the 3-2 lead in the third

Krebs
Battled out a glorious pass to Hague and almost broke the 3-3 tie in the third. Krebs has been underwhelming in two games so far, but you can tell he’s reading plays well.

Carrier
Worked well with Roy and Kolesar. A bit of an unremarkable night for the left wing.

Roy
Great forechecking led to a turnover/chance for Krebs in the slot. Great speed on the rush. Roy picked up where he left off last post-season. Beautiful forehand-to-backhand shootout goal.

Kolesar
Good presence all game. Got a penalty in the second in an accidental trip. Had an impact every shift.

Leschyshyn
Nailed the post off a broken play and brown put away the rebound.

Brown
Nice rebound goal.

Røndbjerg
Underrated prospect earned an assist on Patrick Brown’s goal. Needs to get stronger.

Defence

Martinez—Pietrangelo
Very steady, quiet night until closer to the end. Petrangelo scored a gorgeous slap shot goal to tie the game 3-3 in the third.

Hague—Coghlan
This pairing worked together well on the powerplay on the second goal. Coghlan used his agility to catch the puck before it went over the blue line then set up a nice feed to Hague down low. Later in the game, Coghlan walked through puck into the slot and got a dangerous backhand shot off in the 2nd. Both defensemen were dangerous last night.

DiLiberatore—Korczak
DiLiberatore got a bad hooking penalty in the third when the game was tied 3-3. The Knights killed the penalty, but as a young guy trying to impress— you can’t take too many of those. Korczak looked good enough, but it was clear he needs to get stronger for his physical style to work at the NHL level.

Goalies

Brossoit
Laurent had excellent poise out of the gate. The goals scored against him were tough ones — be them cross-ice feeds or through traffic and tipped by their own player.
