Kraken vs Avalanche - Rebounding In A Big Way

Saturday wasn't a great day for Kraken or Avalanche fans. Seattle lost 4-1 to an Oilers team that had just lost to the lowly San Jose Sharks and the Avalanche are coming off a 2-8 drubbing, courtesy of the St. Louis Blues. Both teams will be looking to put forth a far better effort tonight/ Who wants it more?

Jordan Eberle remains out of the lineup after a scary injury where his quad was cut with a skate. Luckily it appears that Eberle avoided anything too serious being cut but is still out indefinitetly.

For now, that means Shane Wright has a chance to try and make an impact on this roster, albeit in a limited role on the fourth line. The good news is that there is some talent around him as it looks like he will continue playing with Tye Kartye and his Coachella Valley Firebirds teammate Ryan Winterton. There is some firepower on that line and I hope Hakstol tries to put that line in a position to succeed.

I wonder who we see in net for Seattle. Overall I haven't disliked Grubauer's play this season, just in regards to his positioning and the goals he has allowed. Unfortunately his numbers pale in comparison to Joey Daccord. Daccord has a 2.59 GAA compared to Grubauer's 3.37 and a 0.913SV% to Grubs 0.891%. Grubauer was pulled against the Oilers and while Daccord didn't allow any goals, the Oilers also took their foot off the gas. I would give Daccord the start tonight.

Seattle is right in the mix in the Pacific Division, below the Anaheim Ducks (wasn't expecting that one) and 4-4-2 in their last 10 games. Those are fine numbers and overall the level I expect from this team. They need to get more from their top guys, mainly Matty Beniers which is still an unfair amount of pressure on a second year player.

Yamamoto has the bump onto the top line right now. Yamamoto was always a streaky player in Edmonton but when he was feeling it he is a dangerous offensive player and a great asset. May as well try to maximize his production while they can.
