Hawks news is coming in nice and slow, which is to be expected this time of the off-season. Not that much is going to get done between now and the end of the playoffs, but that doesn’t mean news isn’t going to come out about the Hawks.

TV Deal
Last week, it was announced that the Blackhawks, White Sox, and Bulls would be moving to a new broadcast channel. This will not be Stadium, which was long rumored to be the option after Bulls/Sox owner Jerry Reinsdorf purchased a majority stake in the network. While details about the new channel are limited, it should be in effect in time for the 2024–25 Hawks and Bulls seasons. Fingers crossed they clean house and get a play-by-play guy that the fans deserve.

Reichel Back
Today, the Hawks announced that they have come to terms on a two-year deal with pending RFA Lukas Reichel. This deal will carry a cap hit of just 1.2 million and will be a low-risk, high-reward move for the Hawks. This is the type of deal I was expecting for the 21-year-old, and it gives him a lot of motivation to prove he deserves a much bigger contract in 2 years. I think if KD can bring in a nice vet piece to help mentor him and give him a bit of line consistency, it will make a major difference for the kid.

Draft Lottery
Tonight is the night, and we will find out where the Hawks first pick in the draft will be. We know it won't be lower than 4, and we will be getting a nice piece to add to the future of this team. In a blink, you missed it. Bucci sent out a photo of the set for tonight's lottery, and if this is a true leak, it has the Hawks dropping to three, the Sharks sticking at one, and Utah jumping to two. Take that with a grain of salt, but if that’s true, I don’t hate going three if they can't be one. Coverage for that starts at 5:30 p.m. Central time.

These are just a few quick-hit topics. I am going to try and do shorter quick-hit blogs this summer as well as more topic-driven blogs with stuff that might not typically fit during the season. That’s all for now, and as always, let's go Hawks!
