The New York Islanders announced a trade with the Chicago Blackhawks, featuring a swap of 2024 draft picks.

#Isles News: The New York Islanders have acquired a first-round pick (#20) and two second-round picks (#54 and #61) in the 2024 NHL Draft from the Chicago Blackhawks, in exchange for the team’s first-round pick (#18) and second-round pick (#50).

In the deal, the Islanders moved back two spots in the first round, from 18th to 20th, as well as four spots in the second round, from 50th to 54th. As a part of the deal, Chicago will also send the Islanders an additional second round pick, at 61st overall.

It’s obviously a minor move, but for moving back a total of only six spots between the two pick swaps, the Islanders did really well in adding an extra second-round pick. New York’s prospect pool is very thin, and they don’t have an abundance of draft picks, with this being an easy method towards improving that issue.
