The Trois-Rivieres Lions kicked off the 2024-25 season by hosting the Reading Royals (Philadelphia Flyers) on Friday at Colisee Videotron.

Friday: Reading Royals 3 - Trois-Rivieres Lions 2

The Lions got on the board on the opening shift when last season’s leading scorer Jakov Novak lit the lamp. With two seconds remaining in the first period, the new captain Morgan Adams-Moisan doubled the lead. The Royals tied up the game with two goals in the middle frame and sealed the 3-2 win with 3:30 remaining.

“Our team is dynamic offensively. There are a lot of elements to work on, but we saw some good things too. During this game, we wanted to be too cute. Luke Cavallin was excellent for us. Maybe it’s a good thing to lose the first one to make sure we play the right way,” coach and general manager Ron Choules said.

The home opener was played in front of 4,100 fans inside the arena, a significant increase compared to last season’s average of 2,241 fans.
