The Leafs picked up two points last night, but they gave one to Utah. A fate that has come too easily lately for Toronto is that they are blowing multi goal leads. Last night was a three goal lead. Leafs up 3-0 in the second period, then Utah scored three goals in 4 minutes to tie it up. Nobody scored in the third period or over time. Leafs appeared to have no interest in scoring in the third/ot with only 6 shots on net total. Matthews and Marner came through for Toronto in the shootout and sent them back east with two points and end their stretch off 11 road games in their past 13 played.
Matthews point streak came to an end. Marner's continued.

Benoit scored his first goal of the season, to match his one goal from last year. He has 6 career goals, 4 of them have come in the month of January, so this is new clutch territory for him. This is his third time in his career he's had 1G, 4A in a season, so his 1 point away from his second best points season.

Interesting playoff fact, Leafs and Bruins have the most active playoff appearances at 8.
The win puts the Leafs even in games with Florida and two points behind, isn't that a song by Def Leppard?

When Florida comes to town on Thursday they will be a bit shorthanded, no Tkachuk, Marchand and Ekblad. Ekblad missed 8 games in January with a UBI. Since he returned he has 1G, 12A in 15 games, with an active 6 game point streak.

Panthers are in Boston tonight for the Marchand Cup. Before they head to Toronto.
I will be back tomorrow morning with a Leafs update
