Everywhere you look lately, when the talk starts about rookie of the year, there have been three main players who have dominated this race….

Celebrini, Wolfe, and Hutson…

Even I believed until a few weeks back that Hutson should take this…and maybe still…

However….

Of course, for myself being located in the Philadelphia region, I’ve always included Michkov in that conversation as well…in the early season everyone included him… I truly believe it was the point of which he was a healthy scratch by John Tortorella for a few games that Michkov dropped off the radar a bit….

However, a look at the NHL scoring right now, looks like this…

Player G-A-Pts
Michkov 24-32-56
Hutson 5-51-56
Celebrini 21-32-53

Due to injury, Celebrini has played less games than Michkov or Hutson for sure…However, over the last month, Michkov is top twenty even strength scorers in the entire NHL… And in the two games since the Tortorella firing….Michkov has scored 4 goals and an assist as his ice time has jumped to 20 minutes from 16 with Torts…

There’s no doubt that these are four exceptional rookies….Celbrini is at times very Crosby-like, Hutson is the next Quinn Hughes and has set Habs team record, Wolfe is the reason the Flames are in a playoff hunt…

Along with the playoff races, this sets up a crazy final 10 games rookies race as well…
