Leafs took another step closer to the Atlantic title on Saturday with a 1-0 OT win over the Habs. Montreal suffering from Ontario fatigue after back to back loses in Ottawa and Toronto.
Toronto absolutely shutdown the Habs Saturday night, allowing just 7 shots on net through two periods. Four straight games for Montreal now with under 23 shots on net. Fifth time this season they have had 15 or fewer shots on net in a game.
Canadiens playoff chances were boosted over with the one point yesterday, Montreal now five points up on Columbus, the Jackets have a max of six points remaining.
Leafs have 2 shutouts in their past 4 games. Stolarz has won 7 straight games, 1.56GAA, .941SV%.He has tied his career high in shutouts with three.
Marner scored the winner in OT, he now sits two points shy of 100 on the season. The OT lamp lighter was his 7th game winning goal of the season.
Leafs visit North Carolina late this afternoon. Leafs and Canes have split two games this season, each team winning 6-3 at home.Carolina has won 3 straight at home against Toronto.
Hurricanes thumped the Rangers on Saturday in Carolina, to end a 0-3-1 skid (all on the road losses). They've won 4 straight at home, outscoring opponent 22-9.
