Montreal signed the somewhat controversial Joe Veleno today following his buyout in Seattle


Joe is a French Canadian born in Quebec…..

He was highly thought of as a prospec. He made history, when in 2015 he became the first player from Quebec to receive “exceptional status” to play major junior in the QMJHL at age 15.

He was drafted 30th overall by the Red Wings a few years back and his NHL numbers haven’t quite stood up to his early hype..

He is 6 foot one and a left-handed center….

He actually has known as a pretty good two-way player as well, and could settle into a bottom six roll although he’s always been put in a top six roll because of his scoring pros and juniors where he went crazy in the Q….

He had a. 104-point season in Drummondville (42 goals, 62 assists over 59 games); named to the QMJHL First All-Star Team
