The Carolina Hurricanes announced today that they've signed head coach Rod Brind’Amour to a multi-year contract extension. Per TSN’s Pierre LeBrun, the deal is for five years.

The Hurricanes also extended assistant coaches Jeff Daniels and Tim Gleason, along with video coach Chris Huffine and goaltending coach Paul Schonfelder.

Since being named head coach of the Hurricanes in 2018, Brind’Amour has led the Hurricanes to six straight playoff appearances. He holds a 278-130-44 over that time, and won the Jack Adams Award in 2021.

Brind’Amour’s contract status has been a much-talked-about topic over the last few weeks, so it’s great to see a deal get done. While it probably took longer – and brought on more attention – than it should have, Brind’Amour is a key part of the team’s identity, and extending him was arguably their top priority heading into the offseason.
