With Scott Laughton absent from practice on Monday at the Flyers Training Center in Voorhees, the Flyers had some different forward lines even apart from subbing for Laughton. The assistant captain's wife, Chloe, was in labor with the family's first child.

For the most part, the Flyers went with combinations that were featured in the second and third periods of Saturday's home opener after head coach John Tortorella juggled the forward lines combinations. There were a couple of exceptions.

Meanwhile, with young defenseman Emil Andrae having been returned to the AHL's Lehigh Valley Phantoms and Nick Seeler poised to be activated from IR, the combinations reverted to what was projected to be the three pairings heading into the season. Veteran Erik Johnson was the seventh defenseman at Monday's practice.
