Returning home from a rough road trip that ended with a 3-0 shutout loss in New Jersey on Tuesday, Jim Montgomery's Dallas Stars suffered a 3-1 setback against the Minnesota Wild at the American Airlines Center on Friday night. The Stars fell to 3-4-0 on the season after a 3-1-0 start.

Friday's game was a scoreless deadlock through two periods until Jason Spezza (1st goal of the season) tipped in a Miro Heiskanen shot in the opening shift of the third period to take a 1-0 lead. The lead held until midway through the period when Matt Dumba knotted the game as he pinched in and potted a Mikael Granlund rebound. Ryan Suter put the Wild ahead a few minutes later on a play that deflected off Dallas defenseman Esa Lindell and past Ben Bishop. An empty-net goal by Zach Parise in the final minute iced the win for Minnesota.

Devan Dubnyk was outstanding in goal for the Wild, stopping 33 of 34 shots including a couple of multi-save sequences. The Stars' heaviest push came in a strong second period but Dubnyk authored 24 saves to keep the game at 0-0. Bishop took the hard-luck loss for Dallas, stopping 33 of 35 shots including 13 in the wide-open second period.

The Stars went 0-for-3 on the power play and 2-for-2 on the penalty kill.

Dallas returns to action on Tuesday, hosting the LA Kings.
