Yesterday’s article had the first video for the new channel where I will be talking more about the business and state of hockey as well as some of the hockey content I’ve written over the past 5 years here at Hockeybuzz. Please take a minute and like/subscribe to grow the channel and get this going!

Tonight, Detroit faces Toronto. Until last year, it was an automatic “L” for me. With this year’s group, we may be back to that. Here are the states:

Power Play - DET - 25% (7th). TOR - 14.9% (26th)
Penalty Kill - DET - 69.4% (29th) TOR - 86% (6th)
Faceoff % - DET - 50.5% (15th) Tor - 55.7% (1st)
GF - DET 2.75 (22nd). TOR - 3.07 (17th)
GA - DET 3.0 (11th). TOR - 2.79 (6th)

Detroit’s strength is on the power play. Toronto is ahead in every other category. The Wings goal per game differential sits at .25 with Toronto at .28. Honestly the teams are close in points but not in talent. Matthews is still dealing with something, but Tavares, Nylander and Marner can always bring something even as this year may see the end of the “core 4”.

Husso was called up due to the flu bug still going around the locker room and that makes this thing anybody’s guess on what Detroit will do on the ice. If the team cannot keep a close shot differential with the Leafs and end up hemmed in it could be a long night.

Let me know your thoughts, and if you do visit the Youtube channel, comment and subscribe/like. If you’re comfortable, please put your Hockeybuzz name in the comments. Would love to see who shows up!

The CHL’s decision to allow NCAA transfers is going to be transformative. You’ll hear the coach in the interview (done just about 30 min before the announcement) that young pro leagues in Europe may now open up for the NCAA as well. A completely different talent pool could be wide open.

We’ll talk more about it in the days and weeks to come, but stop by! We’re even going to do something guitar talk as yours truly has 3 guitars on display at a trade show in Vegas. Fun times ahead, and a good way to keep in contact!
