The Hawks hit the ice one more time before the week-long All Star break, and it will be the last game of this West Coast road trip. The Hawks have a chance to continue a franchise record tonight with a loss; it will be 20 road games in a row. Its crazy to think the last time this team won on the road was the Moms trip in Florida. Corey Perry was still a Hawk, Bedard was starting to get hot, and this team was a lot of fun to watch. Now I know there is nothing to get excited about when your team is the owner of a 19-game skid, but despite this, I do think this team is trending in the correct direction, and given not only the situation they are in this year and not having their best player in the lineup, this is all you can ask for.

If there is any time to snap this streak, why not do it tonight against the Calgary Flames? The Hawks currently have a four-game winning streak against the Canadian team, which just can’t seem to figure out how to beat the Hawks. Last year, losing all three matchups cost them a spot in the playoffs, thus teaching all playoff contenders a valuable lesson in the importance of beating the teams you are supposed to beat. After a rough start to their season, they have found a way to claw back up the standings, but sitting 6 points out of a wild card spot, they need to win games like this if they think they are going to have any chance at playing in late April.

As for the Hawks, they come into this one getting shutout for the third time in the last five games. It is crazy to see how little offense this team has without Bedard in the lineup; they are currently 31st in the league in goals for with 105, and right now it doesn’t feel like that’s going to go up anytime soon. This team just needs to get through this game and take a nice week to just rest and reset, and hopefully come back after the break with some answers on the offensive side of things.

Projected Line Up

That’s going to be it for me, puck drop is set for 9pm central time and as always, Lets Go Hawks!
