The Hawks are back in action tonight against Sidney Crosby and the Pittsburgh Penguins. The Hawks are coming into this one after dropping their fifth straight loss as they dropped a 4-2 contest to the Vancouver Canucks. While the outcome has stayed the same, it was nice to see the Hawks score more than one goal in back-to-back games.

The Penguins come into this one fresh off a 5-2 loss to the Florida Panthers last night. They have now lost three in a row, have a 3-5-2 record over their last ten games, and have seen their playoff chances dwindle by the day. Sitting 7 points behind the Wings and the last wild card spot with just 32 games to go, they need a win against the Hawks in the worst way possible, so expect the Pens to come out trying to prove a point tonight. It's hard to count out a team that has Sidney Crosby, who once again has proven that he is still one of the best players in the NHL, putting up 52 points (28-24) in 50 games this season. Jake Guentzel is having himself a great season as well, putting up 52 points (22-30) in 50 games this season, and with him producing, being in the final year of his contract, and the Penguins free falling in the standings, he has become maybe the top trade candidate for this year's deadline.

Return of Bedard

Friedman dropped a bomb that the Hawks were going to talk with doctors to see the status of Connor Bedard and see if he could get back into the lineup tonight. If he does make a return, it will be a huge relief for this team, as the offense has been nonexistent since his injury. The team was hoping to have him back by the game against the Wings on the 25th, so getting him back 10 days earlier than that would be exciting. We all know that Bedard will tell the team and doctors whatever they want to hear to get back into the lineup, so it will be shocking to me if he isn’t in the lineup by Saturday against the Senators.

That’s going to be it from me. The puck drop is set for 7:30 p.m., and as always, Let's Go Hawks.
