The Toronto Maple Leafs will be participating in a rookie tournament this weekend, but after a number of years of travelling up to Traverse City, MI, the Leafs will be heading to Montreal for a one-on-one showdown with the Canadiens at the Bell Centre.

The Leafs announced their roster of 26 players (15 forwards, 8 defensemen and 3 goalies) earlier in the week for the pair of contests on Saturday, September 14 and Sunday, September 15, but an awkward hit on 2024 first-rounder Ben Danford at practice on Thursday may put his participation in question.

Danford was hit in the corner by camp invitee Marshall Finnie and struggled to get back up to his feet. The 18-year-old left the ice and failed to return due to precautionary reasons. Marlies head coach John Gruden (who will coach both weekend games) said after practice that the Oshawa Generals defenseman was being evaluated and hopefully he would be alright.

Besides Danford, 2024 draft picks Miroslav Holinka, Nathan Mayes, Sam McCue are on the roster, along with 2023 first-round pick Easton Cowan and sixth-rounder Noah Chadwick, Easton Cowan), 2022 second-rounder Fraser Minten, goalies Dennis Hildeby, Vyacheslav Peksa, and Artur Ahktyamov, draftees Nikita Grebenkin, Ty Voit, NCAA signees Jacob Quillan and Cade Webber, and Toronto Marlies alums Roni Hirvonen, Topi Niemelä.
