over payment to me. I do want the Jets to make some deals but I also want to keep our pick in 2023. I think the Jets could afford to move Pionk for a top 6 winger we are deep on D.
- Ross77

No, I wasn't trading our pick in 2023, would never do that. I was trading our 2022 picks that we made. Maybe that would be a mistake as well?

I was saying McGroarty, Lambert, Schmidt and Barron for Chychrun. However the Jets might want to hang om to one of these young forwards and include ....a young d-man?....instead? Or add a piece like Vesalainen if any interest?

Think that Stenlund and AJF have been great additions - hopefully we can keep them next season. Not sure why Stenlund wasn't out for the final face-off?

Too expensive, too risky, and let's be real, once our injured players return, he is not needed.
- bennythehat

Yes, sounds like injured guys are ready to return to the battle field.

Imagine the guys were held out last night due to facing a "heavy team" as in guys like Lucic and Zadorov.

With the opposition being Tampa Bay, more of a speed team, on Friday can see the guys getting back in. What they do on the blue-line will be interesting.

Bowman said after the game there were "other factors' why a guy like Schmidt didn't play last night. H-m-m-m?

The Jets are absolutely desperate for scoring help. Vrana drives play and scores. He is the exact thing we are crying out for

Vesalainen has no value. Also that Chychrun trade is so over the top from the Jets side, I have to take it as sarcasm. He’s a #3-4 left D. We don’t need that, we have that in spades

Ok, just throwing a trade out there to see everyone's thoughts. Maybe you're right?

I see Chychrun as an upgrade (cheaper) - can play both sides - but you obviously don't. I get it. You are probably right on Vesalainen, haven't heard much about him.

Kind of searching for opinions, always interesting.

Not every day you see this type of player out there. This is not a salary cap waiver - at least from what I see. I love Vrana too, but isn't there red flags?

Why do you suppose the Wings would waive - and probably lose - Vrana?

Looks like I am bolding a few of your post but heavy teams like Minny could also be problematic later on as Reaves or Greenway will be running over the "smaller" Jets.

I think Varna would make for an interesting reclamation project. I am hoping that someone could educate me on this, but if the Jets were to claim Varna, would the Wings not be on the hook for half his salary? Also with all the injuries the Jets have suffered would those injuries not lead to the Jets having more cap space?

I think that Bowness has abandoned the top 6, bottom 6 stuff. Seems like ice time is more evenly distributed and he does seem to be looking for more offense from the 3rd line. Almost seems like we finally have a top 9, bottom 3 mentality.

Chychrun is definitely an upgrade on everyone not named “Josh” or maybe “Dylan”. But I worry his skillset isn’t what we need, and he’s never really played his offside despite the rep. About 9 games or so. He’s great at attacking from the line, but he doesn’t create much for his teammates so much as spamming point shots like he’s Logan Stanley. His defence is decent, but I’m not convinced the trade price is worth it just for a spooky slapshot and an improvement over Pionk at being Pionk

Interesting - too many red flags? Thought someone would bite with his skills!

Know he is seemingly held in high regard but haven't seen enough of him to disagree with your scouting report.

But, no, don't want to pay a bundle for a one-trick pony, if that's the case. So pass!

He used to be a lot better. I think Arizona’s decline has kind of messed up his game. He was more balanced and bigger impact a couple years ago

Look at Morrissey this year. Systems is what makes a player. He looked horrible under Maurice. This year he is looking like the second coming of Housley and Numminen together. Great at defense and putting up Housley esque offensive numbers…..

I think Chychrun could do the same if he came to Winnipeg. Maybe not numbers wise…

I agree not being the only guy doing anything most of the time would help Chychrun get back to his game… but Morrissey is not good at defending this year. Or last. At all. He’s so utterly overpowered offensively it doesn’t matter, he’s gonna beat you down 7-4, but I cannot allow “good” and “defence” to share space under Josh Morrissey’s name right now

Weren't there some people on this (not sure who) suggesting that we leave Morrissey exposed in the Seattle expansion draft? Just askin'!

Of all the jets prospects at the juniors I liked Lucious the most. I know he’s a year older then the rest and that’s huge at their age but I’ll say this, as our only decent Center prospect in the system, he can not be moved in any deadline deals. We need at least one Center prospect. We are loaded with prospects on the wings; McGroarity, Lambert, Rathevsky, Wagner, Chibrikov to name a few.

Agreed, we need a decent young center prospect, and he certainly fits the bill.

What, one, two years away, mainly strength wise?

A lot depends on what happens this summer with Shief and PLD, do they sign extensions this summer to stay long term (or more than one year at least ) or are the Jets forced to move them?
If we are forced to move them, Lucious could start the year for the Jets as we would clearly be short on Centers or if we do manage to keep them I see him starting the year on the Moose but finishing it on the Jets

The jets are not exactly deep with goalie prospects. Since Thomas Milic went undrafted and will be too old for the next one he is allowed to sign with an nhl team anytime now.
Hope the Jets get him!! Would be nice insurance with Helle only a year away from UFA status.

PLD eligible to re-sign now if he wants to - and "if he wants to" are the key words. PLD was pretty happy with the Jets signing Stenlund. Won't be the key factor obviously but every little thing might help.

Got to believe that Scheif will want to test the waters if he is still here after next season, but that's just my gut feeling. Hopefully if PLD re-signs, Scheif will follow suit. Otherwise we may have some combo of Lucius, Chibrikov and Zhilkin in a couple of years - barring a trade.

Could Perfetti move to the middle?

One thing I have learned over the past couple of years is that the future is not certain. I don’t think St. Louis fans are upset at losing Tage Thompson in the Ryan O’Reilly trade, especially considering they won a Stanley Cup. This is an all-in year for the Jets.
