The 20 year old defenseman that can’t play physical or actually play defense despite his giant range, is gonna outplay a contract ?

Good one

- Boss34

Dahlin was physical and was good at defense his first few years in the league?

Good one.

Missed your post

You said dahlin 3 year deal was not a usual type deal, now 4 isn’t unconventional?

- Boss34

It's last page....

Dahlin was 4 years from UFA. If you have to bridge, a backloaded 3 year deal is what the player wants and pretty standard now.

Power will be 5 years from UFA, so add a year.

Can't play D? Are you daft?

He's salty that he's not Ristolainen.

Still lamenting the love he lost.

How much did you mark up your seasons by today? How much money do you want to steal from your local/friendly Sabres fans?

Should add that a pair of 2 year bridges is very much an option, but that's what happens if the team is being really cheap.

Like Cong said, if you're going to get cheap with him, you better plan to use that cap space.

The deal is fine.

Not a bargain, not a discount. Market value.

Top 5 NHL D-man is here to stay so that’s all that matters.

We know they want him long term, so it really shouldn't be that hard....if that's what he wants.

It's fine because the Sabres have enough young players to adjust there cap as needed at Forward and Defense. If the Sabres didn't have that it could be a problem. But it's done and we worry about it in 3 to 5 years.

He's in a slightly different situation, with a potentially exploding cap.

As a first overall defenseman, $5M would shock me.

- kingcong39

what does first overall have anything to do with anything.

the number may be a bit low, as i dont know anything about the demands, but maybe a dahlin bridge deal is what they all look at. dahlin was probably worth more two years ago, so with inflation 6 is probably fine for power.

He likes it here, I have been told. But his Agent isn't a schmuck. Think you be fair with him he will sign.

they paid him what he deserved to be paid. team gets a franchise defenseman for his entire prime, player gets what he deserves. there's nothing wrong here. it just 'is'.

and clearly he loves it here or he's not signing 8. he's said it 100x and he'll say it 100 more

Levi, Quinn, JJ, Johnson entering the final year of their ELC's next summer. No breaks! It just gets harder when you can't go long term on everyone.

Agreed with what you said and that just means GMKA has been doing a great job.

it's easier.. imo.. your budget is set with your long term players. lock down power, he's the last of your inner core.

Lunaion already laid out a bridge deal that makes sense for Power.

The AAV does not begin with a 5.

KA telling Levi and Quinn they aren't part his core and are getting bridges will give him an ulcer.
