it's a lot more than just olofsson and joker
- homiedclown

I didnt have my eyes glued to the guy but Olo looked pretty good to my eye test when I was watching him. He was actually moving those feet around, back checking, doing little things.

I would like him on the Tage PP unit on the other side, especially if 1-T's is all their going to utilize.

Is that not on coaching. If he plays that way and Joker plays bad and the lines stay the same.

Screams coach and GM on different pages. Certainly a possibility.

in defense of the offense, the Rangers played a PERFECT 1-3-1. They clogged the middle of the ice and blocked 28 shots. its is very hard to beat that defense when played perfectly and the Ranger did just that last night.

Also, I really didn't have a issue with Levi last night at all, maybe the breadman goal but that was post and in so it was a hell of a shot, the others he was left out to dry and the PP goal was tipped.

- hehateme

Levi made some nice stops, didnt have a problem with him, gotta pickup the trailing men and those back door passes.

Rangers did play a good trap game. Sabres also gave them most of those blocked shots. Instead working it low on the PP Dahlin would blast 7 shots in a row at a guys shins. Or do the same fake shot toe drag over and over again and then not use the space he gained and just cycle the blue line over and over again.

It was like watching an old scratched CD playing over the same scene over and over and over

After the first goal and Clifton lighting whoever up at our bench I'd of changed those pairs.

He CAN grow. He's new to the NHL. Its what his 3rd year?

He just hasnt shown any growth himself what so ever. Albeit 1 game in but damn, command that damn bench. Its like he says nothing to the players during the periods.

Maybe we never discussed the coach having a career year as well last season…

that's the thing

a chance to upgrade a few assistants and nothing

team seems to be fine rebuilding at a snails pace and this could be the year the snail goes backwards

Does this happen often? Honest question. It seems like coaches have their guys and they stick with them.

Believe he worked with Christie in Chicago. Don't know where he worked with Wilford. Maybe Donnie and Adams can get Ulf Samuelsson to coach the D. Donnie has worked with him before.

Was there any talk of working at improving their defensive play during training camp? As Q always said, “playing the right way” (without the puck). Not some grand, new “defensive system”, but things like forwards focusing on not cheating looking for offense, always coming back hard on D, as well as playing smarter with the puck and not forcing plays that lead to fast breaks the other way.

That would certainly help, been calling for a 200ft D system involving everyone. Offense might suffer, but you also could create some nice chances on turnovers.

Perhaps we just suck at home.

Can we make the playoffs with a perfect road record and no home wins?

Yeah, score some pretty goals off turnover rushes, while giving up less of the same type of chances. Just gotta pick the right spots to push it on offense.

3 d-men all had the same problems last night. Power, Joker and Samuelsson all weren't picking up on the trailer, all were backing up to much and all 3 of em wont clear the front of the net or even make an effort to.

To me that's on coaching, especially first game of the year. Gotta harp on these guys to be better.

Smart post.
No, there has not. It is very disappointing that they have not picked this mantra up for them selves. There are examples of successful teams having made this adjustment you identified. For whatever reason, this team has ignored it so far.

I feel like they coach the forwards to cheat the zone and create rushes. Think this is just part of Donnie hockey.
