pretty clear they are telling josh not to run, which makes him less effective
- homiedclown

Agreed and I think protecting Josh from injury is more important than winning any single game or play.

Until the playoffs or a “do or die situation”

The ironic part about this line of thinking is that he got taken off for concussion testing and had to run scans on his shoulder after the game.

Didn't they only have a handful of wins last year though? Seems like they went from SB champ to NFL chump pretty quickly. While that felt good at the time, it wasn't really the statement win against a great defense...like we thought it was.

they won in weeks 2 and 3 before injuries derailed their season

can't think of a more hostile place for a road to have to open up the season vs the defending super bowl champs in their house

Yeah he lives down that way, surprises me every once in awhile with a Special Bottle. Got some really good stuff in my Cabinet from him. Got a Bottle of Vintage Frank Sinatra Jack Daniels, might be the best Whiskey I have ever had. That only comes out at Christmas and New Years.

That’s what makes me worry and helped form my opinion

This year is done without Josh

Also, they miss Milano, but so far the speed is still there, it’s the sure tackling that hurts most so far

The defence was excellent yesterday.

The offence took the night off.

Josh has to throw to the other reveivers.

I'm curious how long he would do that for if the receivers don't show the ability to consistently makes plays when the ball comes their way.

- kingcong39

Now that Josh is getting better protection and throwing more from the pocket, it feels like they just don't get receivers open. I think it's the reason why their play action looks so much better atm.

Davis + Knox, 6 receptions on 10 targets just isn't good. RB's had 0 targets? Others? 3 for 3.

Fair enough, didn't really know about the injuries tbh. What's your overall thoughts on Dorsey so far?

I'm okay with holding off early in the season, but if injury is the primary reason you're doing it, you're costing your team.

dorsey, IMO he is an average OC that is still learning and has a big ego

I think as a first year OC he called the offense better than our D coaches

I also think he waits too long to make adjustments

case in point, why wait til mid 3rd quarter to start running when it was there all game and that is the bigger flaw on their D

plus Josh is a better qb when he is a duel threat and someone is telling him not to run

Even just using the perception he might run is huge, get him out of the pocket. He's a pretty good passer on the run.

Allen, McDermott and Beane all to a man said that Allen needs to run a lot less multiple times during the offseason. That definitely didn't come from Dorsey. Hell, I wouldn't be surprised if it came from Pegula ("if I'm paying a quarterback $250 million, I want him on the field").

The thing about Dorsey is this: he's still an inexperienced play caller. I thought he had never called plays at any level but I guess he was a high school OC for a minute. If you think he can evolve into a good one, fine, but you're going to have to live with the growing pains. When Daboll was the Offensive Coordinator here, he had at least called plays before in college.

Playcalling is not the issue. It’s the execution of the plays.

- Diggs horrible offside killed a drive
- Gabe Davis fumble
- Gabe Davis bad drop
- 2 bass missed field goals
- Knox drop at the very end / bad pass

I think it’s “cool” on Twitter to give Dorsey a hard time. He’s an easy scapegoat. So I get it.

Even the jets game …. Allen threw horrible INts. That’s not in Dorsey. Also the jets defense owned Mahomes and hurts. Not just Allen. Allen is the one that got the bad publicity

So hating on Dorsey is “cool” and you want to blend in with the crowd. Sure go for it.

WGR instigates garbage takes to fill air time.

Playcalling is 100% a problem. The worst play calling on 1st down. This puts josh in a bad position for 2nd and 3rd. No wonder he only looks at diggs because he is the most reliable.

Running out of shotgun all the time. Not having cook out there on 1st down. Running on 2nd and 9. No designed runs for josh. 3 yard outs to diggs on 2nd and long. No screen passes. Never rolling josh out( we did have 1 yesterday ). Sherfield never on the field. Much more to list.

Really not sure how anyone can watch the last 2 games and say playcalling not the problem. Its bad.

Agree with most things there, but I do like their offense with Murray out there (under C). Not going to get many big plays, but also not going to get tackled in the backfield very often.

playing like steve young is what made him one of the top 3 qbs in the nfl not playing like dan marino

hopefully one day they will find that happy medium

Despite looking alot better than the season opener I saw the same team that struggled and lost against the islanders with their season on the line last year. There were periods of time we were flying all over them unable to score, then give up a goal on a defensive breakdown

Isles, pens, caps, sens, wings, lightning are the types of teams they will need to beat regularly to make the playoffs

Tomorrow is another early season test. If they are 0-4 for their rematch with the islanders this Saturday look out. Not going to get any easier as the season progresses

The I told you so train is gassed up and ready to roll. Im hoping it stays parked

Exactly, we have a personnel and scheme issue. I don't understand why people want to blame one or the other, they go hand in hand. There is plenty of all 22 footage out there now of people calling into question some of the route concepts. Diggs gets the bulk of the attention as he's the only one who is able to play above the scheme. The offense is becoming predictable, even a giants fan behind me at the game was calling out our run plays.

Very easy indicator of someone who is not in touch with reality.

The article was sufficient delusion enough though.
