This could be the worst idea iv heard in months
- ZiggyBuff

Perhaps a bit hyperbolic. If they decide to send down Benson a spot is available, it's either more VO/Oloffson or fill the spot.

From this lens, do you see a benefit to adding Kane to the roster?
- Theguywiththething

Can see it both ways. I think he would be an upgrade over Olo and Krebs until Quinn comes back, but don't see where he fits thereafter. Being that we're trying to win now, you sign him and worry about Quinn when he comes back. Given that Kane reportedly wants a multi year deal though, I see why it's a firm no from some folks.

He was 2 years ago. Seems irrelevant now, especially if you aren't going to give him top line + first PP time.

He's a bad bet.

- Lunaion

I still don’t see a connection to his impact matching Olo’s.

If it’s just an eye test, that’s fine. I just wanted to see if I was missing something.

Just look at the simplest measure of 5v5 effect: xGF%.

Would you take Kane as 3RW over Okposo at 4RW?

I don't want him to but I expect him to. I've liked his game and I think Granato does too but the allure of sending him down and saving the year of contract will win out in the end imo. They'll say "he did wonderfully here and were excited for him to take that game into the WHL and continue to grow." He'll play in the WJC and come back next season.

Maybe I'm wrong, I just expect it to happen until it doesn't. 6 more games and we'll find out.

- Zschalberg

Well, crazier things happen for sure.
He is best kept up for the year and learning the NHL game without getting crushed, and he isn't getting crushed.
That would be gross mismanagement on their part if they did.

ZERO chance they send him down if he continues playing the way he is. Kids not afraid to get lumped around.

22/23:

Pat Kane:

Chicago: 50.79
Rangers: 64.10

Victor Olofsson:

Sabres: 39.53

One played injured and majority of the season on a team that was tanking.

One played on a top 3 offense in the league.

- Theguywiththething

Probably, yeah. Okposo looks shot right now. Kane may be a net negative in terms of defense, but his offense helps outweigh. So far Kyle has struggled on both sides of the coin and I don't expect that to change at his age.

How about you? Where do you sit on the whole Kane spectrum?

I'm surprised it was this big of a difference, but good to see. Would likely still be a market improvement.

He is a positive player even at this point in his career after playing on bad Chicago teams for all the defensive doubts. He is what the Sabres want 90% of their draft picks to become.

He can show them how to handle and win under pressure - this might be the biggest selling point for me.

His talent is undeniable, I hope they sign him. Quinn would be the biggest beneficiary from him joining the team IMO.

Edit: he also played for the NTDP and was an early 1st round pick. This fits the criteria for the current front office to offer employment.

I would take him for a 1 year hometeam discount. Trade VO retained for some teams 2026 3rd

It’s true. Broken hip Kanes skating is going to take a hit

Olofsson doesn’t skate as is.

I agree they are currently similar players one just has a lot of winning and is from south Buffalo.

Also remember Quinn and him coming back around January. I expect a conditioning stint in roch for him.

With New England clam chowder there are a lot of different eays to make a nice, rich batch that's neither too runny nor too stodgy. Some like to use hevy cream only, but for me that is too heavy and fatty...so for a single batch I take 3 cups whatever milk I have around, and add one-quarter cup flour. Shake it up really good in a container with a lid and add that to the veggies (chopped onion, garlic, celery and carrot) and clam juice that has been cooking for about 15 minutes already. Slowly bring that to a boil, drop the heat and simmer at a low boil for another 15, stirring frequently. My last step is to add about another quarter cup half n half to kick the richness up a notch, then add the clam meat...once the clams are in, you can't boil it or the clams get rubbery.

Warm it up a bit more and when serving, add a healthy dose of crumbled up bacon on top of each bowl. Viola!

For the type of team KA has built so far adding Kane to this mix doesn't strengthen their chances a whole lot. Still weak on defence and in need of some tough to play against lower 6 guys
The GM made his decision on who his top 6 are and he wants to let them grow. Skinner is there only because he's impossible to move. Where he can really make a difference is trading a prospect and picks for a top 4 D then bring in some gritty guys to play on the bottom 6. Okposo was, is and will be a big mistake. Can't imagine the thought process there but can only say if they wanted leadership, grit and guys that can still play should have beat the hawks to Folino and Perry.

You can expand the analysis across many different stats and they virtually all are the same...the opposition has more scoring chances, typically higher GF,
higher HDSC
And the list goes on.

Go get a positive impact player...preferably a top 4 D
