If levi isn't able to handle it and this is their plan on the back end of the season no wonder adams wouldn't mutter the P word

Just wow

- ieetbred

all things considered, what would you have done in this scenario? Keep in mind those other two last year were inconsistently good throughout the season, and both ended up poorly. Comrie, apparently, had favorable "private data".

If anything you will get:

On this day in 1986 Lindy Ruff had an excellent backcheck...

Id have probably waived comrie

Hard to say its not my job. If it really was I would have done whatever I could to get a proven serviceable nhl goalie in here before it got this far

My biggest issue is everything seems to point to not really trying that hard to win yet

this IMO is the downfall of Adams

he has to make a hockey decision

6k or comrie

and risk losing the other to waivers

I'm not sure I can really agree here. They're playing their best goalie. They upgraded the bottom of their defense. They kept an 18 year old kid who proved he belonged, and benched a bum in only 2 games.

I think they're trying very hard to win.

are you saying the downfall of adams in the sense that he's incapable/unwilling to make the 'hard' choices? Or that this choice is what's going to get him fired? I assume the former.

I believe if he wanted to, he could trade UPL or Comrie. They're only here because they know they'll be taken on waivers. They know they have trade value. imo. And based on their conferences.

Looked to bring in a 30 to 40 game NHL goaltender to properly support Levi, and offloaded, even if it meant waivers, for Comrie and UPL.

They play better than Bryson, so its a W in those terms.

Clifton might grow into something, Johnson already served his purpose by making Dahlin buy a sauna.

Parayko is 30 signed for 6 more seasons @ $6.5MM, and is 6'6" 230lbs. Could he be a good fit for Power? It's an interesting pairing and you can't teach size.

- Theguywiththething

Unless St Louis is taking half of that salary I'll pass. The Sabres at this point are not in a cap crunch but it will be coming eventually. 6 years and already 30 years old makes it a tough pill to swallow

why can't Comrie back up Levi all on his own? My question is, why can't they just cut the cord with UPL?

My feeling is they just want to see if Levi can survive majority starts this season. If it appears he can, they'll be fine cutting one. Think this happens when Quinn is ready.

My 2 cents for what it’s worth on Adams off season moves.
I don’t agree he did all he could by any means but maybe there was more at play.

Making move for Chickenman, Dumba, or any other top 4 D-man before Dahlin signed could have back fired potentially.
I’ll give him that pass.
Top 6 winger to play on Cozens line. This was a miss. Could have easily signed one of many guys who took a 1 year deal to bridge the gap between development and Quinn’s injury.

Tuch/Tage/Skimmer
JJ/Cozens/Tarasenko(or many others) Quinn
Greenway/Mitts/Krebs/Tarasenko
Jost/Larryposo/Larrysons

Goalie
Tough one here. Who could we have signed that would fit as a sort term splitter with Levi?

On another note;
Olofsson
Just waive his ass and maybe he quits if not picked up and we save some money

The thing with Kev is he's never going to make a move unless he absolutely has to. He'd rather play musical waivers. Those options have begun to dry up. We're left with Krebs, Levi and Peterka now. So yeah you can do it if Levi isn't starting for one game, but you're not gonna do it with the other two so Void can play.
Savoie and Quinn makes this really interesting.

I truly wonder if Olofsson or UPL see waivers/trade first.

Let's say its Olo for Parayko straight up, would you add to make them eat half the celery or how would you structure the deal?

every agent knows that levi is the guy here. there was no one in free agency worth signing, that would sign a Comrie deal, who's better than him.

Trade options, you're looking for a different Comrie. So why bother.

i get the frustration, i wanted upl attached to a rocket. just dont think backup goalie is the big deal we make it out to be.

maybe they're hedging right now, but I think that they think he can be 1, not 1A. And they may want to evaluate that for the next two months before they ship out a goalie, while they still have time to push the decision. it's annoying but it's strategic.

and further, it's not hurting them at the moment.
