Changing the 3rd pair out didn't totally flip the complexion of the team?

Wow, the boys cannot even beat the lowly Canadians at home. Bills lose so the Sabres have to follow suit. Time for a new coach. Donnie just cannot turn this team around. No playoffs for yet another year. Pathetic! |

Did the 3rd goal even go 5 hole...? - kingcong39
Couldn't tell on the replay, it was either 5 hole or short side (which is worse from an angle perspective). I'm being tough on Comrie, but that 2nd goal simply can't happen. He was lazy/slow to cover up; nonchalant really. gamechangin/backbreaking goal. |

Not sure why you're going after the third goal. That's a tough one to pin on him.

Why does nobody have patience for this new defensive system that minimally impacts offense?
Goalie is a position of strength
The new acquisitions bring enough grit…it’s 2023 anyway.
Someone please share the rosters birthday’s so we can know when they are a year older therefore better.
Wild card: 9th place
Division: last place
Conference: 15th place
League: 27th
It’s still early. |

A team with 3 goalies probably doesn't have one real NHL goalie. When we needed him most, the real Comrie showed up in the 3rd. Our 3 goalies are:
1. a 21 year old that the GM thinks can do something that no other 21 year old has ever done before. btw, the NHL has been around for a long time.
2. A goalie with an average to slightly above average AHL track record.
3. A goalie with a bad AHL track record.
We get #3 in Ottawa tomorrow - lucky us......... - turbo044
Position of strength. |

Has there been a scheme change where the sabres are playing a more structured game with more emphasis on defense?
Last season seemed the sabres scored at a high rate with little defense and this year so far looks like scoring is down?
Is it bad luck? Cold starts? Type of play? Overachieved offensively last year? |

Adding conviction has been like trying to mix oil and water.

Is this really the way this team wants to head. A GM that is afraid to make a change, a coach who is in way over his head and a leader on the ice who figures this years a write off as they have to figure out the new system.

Both the booze until I am about to throw my phone through the TV, and then a couple Bong Hits to bring it back down. And depending the game this couple take place multiple times throughout. |

That's exactly what it is: making a forward group that can't play good defense focus on doing it anyway, which, in turn, is choking that group's biggest strength: scoring. What I can't figure out is whether this is coming from Granato or above him. |

I don't get this, they threw almost 80 shots at Allen last night. They got beat by a goalie last night. Sabres biggest thing is they don't pay the price to get the dirty goals, they all want the pretty ones. Bring up a few players willing to play that way. Bring up Biro who will pay the price. We could use someone like Brett Murray only who could skate just a bit better to plant that Big A$$ in front and get dirty. |

This is not true at all. They are playing better defense. But thats not taking away from offense. They were all over Montreal yesterday after the first 10min.
There not scoring dirty goals. Noone is driving the net. Bad puck luck.
All the nancys on here were saying granato cant implement a defensive system all summer. Now it looks like they are playing one and we saying thats the reason we not scoring?

They still have there problems in front of there net and in the slot. But it looks like they are learning some defensive structure. Still want to see how this works against better teams. |

This doesn’t tell the story though.
80 shot attempts only 8 high Danger.
