I clicked on desktop by mistake, what a mess this site is when on my phone and I fuk up. 5-2-3 record not horrible but that’s mostly due to outstanding goal tending. This team is playing on their heels most of the time. Not a good way to play and will eventually catch up to them.

This team does not have the speed and skill to match up against elite type teams. This is not the trap days of the past.

When they actually go on the attack, they look more dangerous and not as predictable compared to last year. I'd go as far as to say they're actually exciting on offense. But man, we hardly ever get to see it. It's like 2/3 of every game is spent in their own zone. They're just asking for results like tonight.

Also, I can't say I'm all that thrilled about seven more years of Mayfield's goofball shocked expression after committing insanely obvious penalties at terrible times.

- UIF

Said the exact same thing about Mayfield during the game.it was clear between whistles that Carolina players were trying to bait him into taking a penalty. They knew

The whole team needs to step up on the D side of the puck. Agree the stupid penalties need to stop.

How do you lose 4-3 at home when you are up 3-1 in the 3rd with 8 min left?
This is the worst lose of the season and one you can look back on if they do not make the playoffs.

They have done this a few times already this season. It’s a symptom of whatever is wrong with this team. Undisciplined penalties, play, and unable to hold a lead in the third period. Starting to agree with others Lambert may get axed shortly. His only saving grace(and it’s a big one)is our record ain’t half bad.

5 2 3 is really 5 5 and he said this isn't a pattern blowing leads. Well lane that's 4 games at home this season where they have done that and they did it in the postseason too. Once they are up they sit back and stop doing what got them the lead. Hockey version of the prevent defense which only prevents you from winning

Personally I wanted lane gone last year and laviolette brought it to coach but as we all know he went to the rangers. They are killing it although they have more talent by far

I was indifferent to Lambert which I guess isn’t exactly a good thing either. Now it’s becoming more clear he’s not the right man for the job which ultimately he’ll pay the price for. The reality is this is Lou’s fault who fired Trotz and promoted Lambert. I’ll also say this isn’t all Lambert’s fault this roster is what it is. Nothing special and not getting any better. That of course gets traced right back to Lou with his reluctance to move on from players. I watch a game like last night and can’t believe we have 7 more years of mayfield.

He has royaly (frank)ed whoever takes over the team from him.

I agree with with 99% of this although at this stage I am not going to fault Lou with firing Trotz. I think it's safe to say that if Lou didn't fire Trotz, he would have been gone when his contract expired regardless. Lou's firing him merely ensured Trotz would be paid out for his final contract year. Trotz had no desire to resign or even coach any longer. Lambert was the natural choice to replace him, but it definitely hasn't been effective

Disagree. Well if Lameriello really believes this is a Stanley Cup roster why wouldn’t he let trotz finish out his last year and promote lambert the following year? Trotz recently said again he wasn’t happy about getting fired. If you think this is a contending roster why would you not give the roster the best chance to succeed with a coach who has already done it? That’s on Lou.

This roster was never a Cup roster. Lou simply does not know how to build a roster with speed and skill. This is still very much Garth's roster. Lou only understands vets and goalies. Lou has not done enough in terms of finding good scouts and finding real talent during the offseason. We need to admit the truth and stop kidding ourselves.

The isles record is a false positive. It is masking the deficiency with this team.

I might be able to accept it on the road. But this is happening on your home ice. The place with the most advantages. This is a Coaching issue.

Totally expected way for this team to lose. 1 electric player on the team and he is in the crease. Everyone else is tradeable.

It’s a GM issue as well. You cannot have these no impact off-season year after year. It was not acceptable with Garth and it’s acceptable with Lou.

Sorokin knew how this team operates. He saw the issues last year and the Canes series. This should not be a surprise.

The team better start keying on defense. They are putting their opportunities into the net more consistently and even scoring on the rush. If they can play a better defensive game and keep the puck out of their own end they would be much better for it.
Gotta think they have put way too much emphasis on scoring instead of keeping the puck out of their own net.
If this team scored 3 goals they typically won the game when they played with that d first mentality.

3 shut outs are shoring up their record. That is completely unsustainable.
