Let me ask you guys something. What do they do with Nelson who has 1 year left after this one. Do they lock up yet another 30 something player long term for big bucks? I’m sorry I don’t Lou making that decision. The Isles play the rest of this year and the beginning of next will dictate what happens with Nelson IMO. Do they trade him and try to restock that putrid farm system if they aren’t playing great or sign him long term as well if they are? Going to be real interesting what happens with him

I think it's more about not finding the best player for Barzal. Bo is a good player maybe just not the best fit. I think someone like Cat was the better fit for Barzal. The style Barzal wants to play does not seem to mesh with the style Lou and Lane want to play.
- ses111

Fair but that style they want to play sucks and is outdated 🤣🤣

Surprised you feel that way about Bo. I think he has been more than solid and I thought him and Barzal look really good together. To think Horvat was going to keep up that scoring pace from last year with the Canucks is unrealistic imo. If he did he would be getting 10 mil a year 🤣
- Vukota

He was a defensive abortion last night multiple times. A couple times glaringly. I assume that was part of the reason that line was broken up. Outside of that his game has gotten better since last year minus the defensive side of the game imo.

Yeah he had a rough night on the D side like just about everybody else lol. I think him and Barzal look really good together on the other side of the Rink and I’ll live with the defensive lapses if they keep producing 😂

This is the issue. I get it Lou is a Hall of Famer and all-time great, but it's a different NHL now and he is 80. Not many 80-year-old GM in sports. You have a player like Barzal with his skill and you have to let him play and not try to turn him into JGP or CC.

Like I said the rest of his game has improved from last season but that’s not exactly a high bar.

I would trade Nelson at this point. He is not going to be the future. Still surprising Lou was brought back. Wonder how many years he was given?

This goes right back to what Vukota just said. You trade Nelson you may as well blow the whole (frank)ing thing up.

Our Head Coach everybody

Asked Lambert what he saw from defensive play of top line after watching game back:

“When I went back and looked at it, it wasn't maybe as bad as I thought it was.”

Did add that he didn’t like the consistent trading of chances.

🤣🤣🤣 f!cking clown

Like you said all depends on this season. If this season goes to sh!t they should dump him and blow it up. If Lou is still our GM he will more then likely extend him for two years to long.

I said that about Barzal but losing Nelson would hurt for sure unless they miraculously got a young stud forward to replace him 🤣

Should have started the process last trade deadline. Anyone that is honest has to admit this is not a roster that is a legit Cup contender along with the coaching staff.

I let him play out his contract if playoffs are certain/likely.

Call me crazy, but I think Nelson is the sorta guy who’ll forgo term and sign team/player appropriate deals for the remainder of his career.

Always been a Nelson fan but if we were ever going to blow it up I would like to see him traded. He could potentially give us the best return outside of Sorokin.

They aren't moving arguably their top all around center. Also if they fire lane I'd like to see a gallant type guy come in. Lavy would have been great but he's currently with the rangers and their 5 game west coast winning streak

I'll also add that breaking up the top line with a lead is pretty foolish and he benched barzal while clutter was in the box for 10 minutes. Seems pretty absurd

Next move will be bringing back Leo for the 1st line. Barzal and Bo are not paid for their offensive talent.

I think a lot matters on the success or lack there of this year. Goal obviously is making the PO’s.
