Terrible trade! Fire Lou!
- nyisles7

Good on the draw and he's been creating both with barzal and on his own. The pp is better with him set up in the bumper spot for one timers which he hit on last night. His d game could tighten up a bit but the isles having 2 lines than can score makes them harder to defend. I think they will start to score more soon and wings goalie was outstanding in the 1st

They aren't moving arguably their top all around center. Also if they fire lane I'd like to see a gallant type guy come in. Lavy would have been great but he's currently with the rangers and their 5 game west coast winning streak

I'll also add that breaking up the top line with a lead is pretty foolish and he benched barzal while clutter was in the box for 10 minutes. Seems pretty absurd

- Upstate_isles

Why wouldn’t they move their top center if they were going to blow it up? Especially since he would have a year left on his contract. It would make little sense to keep him if the idea were to rebuild our prospect pool. I guess you can make the mentor the kids argument but I think it would be pretty dumb not to trade the guy that could potentially give you the best return.

Yes I made the observation that his defensive game has sucked so far in the entire eight games we’ve played so far this season that translates to fire Lou of course.

Lou is too old for a rebuild is my reasoning

I really didn't see him much in Vancouver to know if he was better in the d zone than he's been so far this year but playing with barzal who's not defensive doesn't help the cause. Gotta hope they start to score at a higher clip, they've had some really good looks of late

Twenty other people could say the same thing. I believe some did yesterday during the game. I say it. The world ends.

I would think he passes the reigns to his kid at that point if that’s the actual plan.

Why does he get to decide who the next GM should be? WTF has his kid done at BP to earn this shot? I’m a little worried about Malkin and Ledecky not exactly hockey people and at times give off Wang like vibes🤣🤣

Oh I’m with you on that. Didn’t feel like typing out at the time I wasn’t exactly comfortable with that idea and deal with four pages of spastic fire Lou comments.

Yeah maybe Lou’s son will be a great GM. I have no idea, none of us do. That’s the problem. Who knows maybe that’s all bs and he isn’t really the heir apparent. I don’t think there are to many of us that wouldn’t prefer a more seasoned GM with a track record of success.

I'm very concerned about L&M. They sound like they are all in with what has gone on. I think a complacency has set in after the two ECF trips. I'm going to have to talk to Ledecky again.

The next GM better be about speed and skill and not old geezer slow players. Chris has not exactly done a good job with Bridge. Rather they hire someone from maybe the Avs or Tampa with a strong scouting background.

I hope not but you could be right. I'd like someone young and up and coming to take over when the time comes

Totally agree.
Guys a beast. Playing really well. End to end rushes and wants the puck. On the D side it’s typically about a five man unit and the team in whole are not what they were defensively with Lane at the Helm. Biggest question I had last year is why wasn’t he playing the bumper spot on the Pp with the Isles when he came. It was his spot with the Nucks and it worked so….

As November starts my prediction for the month is 8 wins and 6 loses. November's schedule is a lot tougher. I said Isles 5-3 for October I was close...4-2-2

Not sure if using Bridgeport as a barometer for how good Lou’s son is at GM’ing is accurate. I’m not saying chris is some great GM but what makes teams respected farm teams good/better are good prospects. We have had very few of those for quite some time now. Sure there’s more to it then that but not having a decent prospect pool for years is probably the biggest contributor to Bridgeport’s suckiness.

Bridge is just the small sample size we have on Chris right now fair or not. Trading the #1 picks has not helped, but you still need to find some hidden gems once in a while in other rounds. Same with finding some gems in UFA. The scouting department should have been overhauled when Lou was hired. Anyone Garth hired should have been replaced. I guess I expected more changes. The focus was on having a vet team with very little thought of the future.

Sounds like Backstrom is toast. He had the same hip resurfacing procedure that Kane did.

Interesting. So if Barzal believes that "chance-for-chance, we outweigh the other side", then does he think the other side's goalies are playing better than the Islanders' goalies? Or is he saying that the Islanders' other lines are the problem when they lose?

If the Rangers were to sign him again it would be hysterical.
