Why don’t Patty Marleau, Joe Thornton, or Joe Pavelski have a ring ?
- Swedish_Jesus

The only chance that group had together was against a Stanley cup winning leadership group that will go down as one of the best in the history of the game....they lost to better leadership.

They even said they were star struck playing the finals and weren't prepared.

OK Gents Let's have some Fun! Let's build a Hockey Team and what in your Opinion does it take to build one ?
My #1 is a strong Top 4 D rotation. People will say a 1C or a Goalie which are very important to, but if you Balance out your Forwards throughout your 12 a strong D core can make the Difference. If I just had a couple Lindholm's and a Cozens with good Wingers I think you could win a lot of games. Even with Levi and UPL

This is a big thing, breaking that Blockade Adams has built. They don't have a few pieces needed within there Organization to finish the puzzle. They need another Power Forward that's not afraid to throw the Body or drop the gloves when needed. And depending on how they want to build L4 we need someone who is good on the Dot. Defense is a work in progress, they seem to have the capability to roll 5 out 6 Decent D if Granato would set his pairs right and trust a younger player. Still need someone who can drop the Hammer though.
- Buff36

Krebs is 58-60 (49%) and Cozens is 98-94 (51%) on faceoffs this season.

Tage and Casey are the faceoff issue, at 42% each.

Do they really have a 4th line faceoff issue with how Krebs is doing so far this season?

Agreed that they need a talented, tough as hell forward, if not two, and a talented ass kicker on defense who will drop the Hammer.

It's why Rasmus Andersson, or a player like Cernak makes so much sense on defense.

Players who set the tone with quality, physical play.

Don't really get it, if Krebs is in the Dog house send him down he's waivers eligible. If you don't have the Balls to bring up Rosen or Kulich. Try Kozak at 4C, atleast he might bring a little grit and some Faceoff wins.
- Buff36

Krebs is not a problem on faceoffs, per the numbers.

Why didn’t the Rangers and their load of playoff experience lose in the first round to New Jersey last year ?

Got to get in the dance to be able to be crowned bell of the ball, and Pavelski has been through the wars many times.

He's the kind of player that would be a huge help: talented, produces, and tough as he'll.

Unrelated: How's the little one?

Hank and I are both new parents this fall.

It's an amazing experience.

Explain to me like I’m 12, how Matthew Knies a month removed from being on a college campus showed up in Toronto and had the primary assist on the biggest Leaf goal this century to win a playoff series over a dynasty that’s won 3 cups the last decade ?

Does Benson play Tonight ? Will really tell us alot about there thinking. You can't have this kid sitting games just because you want to prolong his stay until Quinn gets back. He deserves to be here and it's not just cause he's a 1st rnd pick, he's been one of there best players. If they send Benson back they had No intention of having youth grow on this roster, and ones that deserve it.
- Buff36

No indication on Benson yet? How about practice lines yesterday? If Benson was still on line 2 (and not an extra skater), that would be a good sign.

If they send him down to save $$/conract year, they're idiots. He's clearly a top 6 forward on their team now. When Tage/Quinn/even Kane if they signed him come back, friggin sit/waive/trade girgs/jost/Krebs etc

I'd be calling Calgary daily trying to see if a deal can be made.

Plenty of players that would help the Sabres, including Tanev, Andersson, Zadorov, Weegar and Hanifin on defense.

I would trade for Elias Lindholm today if possible, and leverage the Dahlin Swedish connection to see if he's open to an extension.

If it means Cozens or Mittelstadt become a winger, so be it.

Surfing through teams that consistently make the playoffs trying to find justifications for an idea that a team that has never made that playoffs will pull off is definitely coming from a position of strength.

Florida had a 9 year playoff drought not too long ago. Ekblad, Barkov, Huberdeau, Lundell were drafted during that run and played huge roles in what came next. I give credit for Zito selling Hubderdeau at the peak though, that’s probably one of the best trades of the last decade.

New Jersey made the playoffs once in a 8 year span prior to last years run. So really aside from a token playoff appearance, they drafted Hischier, J Hughes, L Hughes, Holtz, Mercer and Nemec who is on his way.

Expansion teams aren’t a relative comparison when they are handed strong rosters off the hop, but in Seattle’s case they aren’t anything special this year either.

What's your confidence level in Adams pulling off a big trade, let alone a giant one?

Mine is at zero on Adams making a move like that.

Swedish fish continues to swim around in the murky water of denial Jesus save him

Adams isn't good because he hasn't built a team that wins. Its the only thing that matters in the show

This delusion about sustainable success only achievable through the draft, continues to be floated by the bald man himself is complete and utter nonsense

Jack Eichel had one of the best playoff runs an individual has had the past decade last year and arguably was robbed of the Conn Smythe.

Good thing he had all of those previous playoff runs to fall back on.

- Swedish_Jesus

Eichel was 6th in goal scoring, on his team, and had 1 more point than Marchessault

you get the glory with goals, not secondary assists

Marchessault was also plus 17 vs Eichel plus 14

Eichel had zero goals in the semi finals and zero goals in the finals

he was robbed of nothing
