Holtz for Jarry? Maybe if Pitt falls further back? His cap hit is light ($5.375) but does go to 2028. Career .915% and having a solid year on an average Pitt team - Crushers68

UGLY UGLY GAME LAST NIGHT.
How the hell can we win when we've got our best player trapped on the wing? Lindy did this to improve team defense, which hasn't worked. The only thing it has accomplished is stifling Jack's creativity and scoring prowess.
And boy do we miss Dougie. Luke is playing too many minutes and needs to be sheltered a bit IMO. He's gonna be good but he's still young and makes a lot of mistakes.
Timo has been a complete bust so far. Does he have a NTC? If not, I'd be fine trading him in a package for a goalie
I know this isn't popular, but our downward spiral seems to have coincided with McLeod's departure. It's really left a hole in this team.
We're not a playoff team and definately shouldn't be buyers at the deadline |

I read somewhere that many front office personal are saying Timo is still playing hurt. Dude might need surgery to fix whatever is going on. Plus correct me if I’m wrong but he’s also playing on his off wing. |

Not sure, I don’t know if he’s still nursing an injury? But that could be why. He certainly seems like a round peg in a square hole on this team and not the player we thought we were getting |

Welp. This week is it for me. We gotta get 2 wins this week. If not then whatever.. obviously keep trying to win, but I wouldn’t cry if we started looking at the draft. |

Today even while still early felt like it was almost a must win game
Tampa is in a wildcard position so needed to beat them not let them get further ahead |

It's donezo. Team looked absolutely lifeless both today and yesterday. Seemed like they couldn't give a (frank) today. I have no idea how Ruff is still behind the bench lol.
Fire Ruff, sell off what you can at the deadline, then retool over the summer. The holes on this team are so glaring and obvious, Fitz has work to do this offseason. |

Probably get a decent return for tofoli
Not sure who else has an expiring contract that would be worth much |

Agreed, hes the big one. 2nd and a prospect or a 1st if we retain half imo. Other expiring guys are Miller, Smith, Nosek, Tierney, and DeSimone, so not really much there. Maybe we can get a 3rd or 4th for Miller/Smith? Teams love depth D. Probably try to flip whatever we get in the summer in packages. |

I hope they re-sign Toffolli. He's the type of pure scorer this team needs

Tbh I didn’t think we looked all that impressive. We looked like we got pucks through a goalie that wasn’t ready. Jack was great, and we had more talent than them, but our D still made so many mistakes.
This has been such an uncomfortable and unsettling season. In past seasons we knew it was either contending or rebuilding. Now it’s.. a confused mess. The kids should all be another year improved from last season’s surprise playoff run, yet we lost 2+Hamilton veteran D.. lost Brunette, and we’re consistently inconsistent and worse than last season. Had a dominant preseason (yea I know just preseason), and had reason to think we’d be more cohesive with Meier and Toffoli having all of camp to gel. Plus we got the Bratt and Timo contracts taken care of. Everything should’ve been good to go. Such a weird season to experience. |

Injuries... nothing you can do about that.
Once Hamilton went down, that changed everything. Then it was a snowball of injuries.

Yup, i dont think people understand how badly losing Hamilton has hurt us. Jeff Marek gave it a shout on one of his pods with Friedman a month or so ago saying how big of a loss it actually is and how literally nobody was talking about it. Thats just Devils things though lol. Then add onto that, Jack and Nico missing a combined 27 games.
Change absolutely nothing about our play but just give us the injury luck we had last season, and this team is in a playoff spot right now. But injuries are a part of the game, need do a better job fighting through it. So it is what it is. Retool the roster in the summer, acquire a goalie, and get right back at it next season. |

I'm on board with this.
Saw a runor we were giving up Holtz, Mercer plus a 1st and a 3rd pick for Markstrom. Seems to be an overpayment to me. Why do it, we're not a team that can get past the first round even with Markstrom in net

Because then the goalie that we give up 3 potential young studs for, will be 35 next year, and we all know goalies get their second wind at 35 and are great for another several years after!

Good call Marty LOL
Also, why did we just take on 1/2 of Tanev's salary for a 4th rounder in next years draft? Taking on salary doesn't make the team better nor will a 4th rounder. Does this mean we're officially sellers? Makes no sense to me why we got involved in this trade |

Yeah thats not happening lol, that article from ESPN might be the worst trade proposal piece that i've read this deadline period. Not even just the Markstrom deal, they're all awful lol. Just look at their proposed Tanev deal compared to the deal that actually happened lol. Garbage.
We already know what it's gonna cost us to get one of the rumored goalies available. Its seemingly Holtz+ for Markstrom(depending on retention) or Mercer++ for Saros. I'm all for Markstrom, he fits what this team needs perfectly according to the guys on the PDOcast who broke down each of the goalies playstyles and strengths/weaknesses. I'm starting to back off of wanting Saros a little bit considering not only the asset cost it'll take to get him, but also the massive contract extension he wants(rumored to be 8x8.5M). |

Because we had like 9.5M in deadline cap space that we're not going to use all of, so might as well get a free pick for eating 1.1M. A lot of people speculating that this is also a "wink-wink, nudge-nudge" to Conroy in regards to a potential Markstrom trade for helping facilitate the trade lol. Obviously no truth to it and people just poopposting, but wouldnt be totally shocked if it were a "we'll help you here, you help us a little there" thing. |
|

Markstrom is now reportedly off the table. Per Pagnotta and Anthony DiMarco, Flames are telling teams they're keeping him the rest of the season. |
