I couldn’t watch tonight but saw on Twitter he had Lee out in the last minute. Why?

What a terrible broadcast that was. Yes they were outplayed but it was non stop, even the post game interview. Barzal has been much better this year and theor best player with dobson

Blowing another lead is mystifying its almost expected but they won a game they didn't deserve after blowing the last one. If they can figure out the 3rd period they might be OK but so far we haven't seen anything to show that

They won but what is there to feel good about. Same shat with a different result. Tonight is a gift and if you play like they are it’s not a recipe for success.

Oilers seem to be playing better for their new coach eh?

Honestly they were outplayed and shat every period tonight. Same script lucky result.

True but they have blown games they should have won too. They don't instill a ton of confidence that's for sure

Just beating the Canes for once is huge though. I'll enjoy this for tonight. Still a lot to be concerned about though.

1. That game was extremely boring
2. The broadcast was just awful and crappped on the isles all game
3. The isles deserved it but I don't need to hear it repeatedly all game
4. Wtf, did these guys forget how to gap up?
5. They continue to let the opposition walk right down the slot and get grade a scoring chances and give up way to many odd man rushes
6. Barzal has been their best player up front and is creating most of their opportunities especially on the pp
7. Dobson has been a stud and is the player we hoped he would be and at 23 he is the future of this defense
8. He and barzal play great together because they are a step above the rest of this team.
9. Horvat has allowed this powerplay to become much more dynamic with his shot and in the bumper position
10. This team could be right with the rangers if not for blown leads but I'm not sure this coach knows how to fix that

So he could make a brilliant clearing attempt right onto the tape of the defenseman

This seems very fair. You would think Lane would understand defense just being around Barry all those years and even if he does not play the same system? I still think it's both players and the Coach. I would have at least replaced Houda in the offseason.

Yep. I doubt he’s telling them to go out there and give up the neutral zone or the front of the net like they do every (frank)ing game. These guys are just playing terrible. Whether that’s just them or they stopped responding to the coach or a combination of the two is the real debate.

I mean christ, just shoot it over the (frank)ing glass at that point. Pulock trying to pin the puck on the boards in the corner with 10 seconds left was also pretty dumb. You're not going to successfully burn off 10 seconds doing that ever. Might as well be an eternity

Pulock and Mayfield are pacing themselves for the playoffs.

They are pros and know the game and have played good d in the past. Either they are trying to stay in lanes system or they've gone full retard

That pissed me off when he did it, too much time and they had a chance to clear it before they and it was weak

I don’t think Lambert is telling them to clear the puck as weak as possible out of the zone or put the puck directly on an opposing players stick in the slot. I doubt that’s part of his system. It’s easy to blame the coach I get it. I’m sure lambert sucks but these players kind of do also.

It’s just baffling having a slow, non-defensive player out on the ice in the last minute of a game you’re winning. I may be wrong about this but I heard Palmieri was out there last minute or two also? I mean, what kind of poop is this?

I agree, some of the decision making is mind blowing. When Mayfield is forced into top 4 minutes though you'll have that. They need an influx of talent and speed and while these long term deals may be easier to move if the cap goes up they are stuck with what they have this year one would think. I'm also not interested in them moving another first round pick either as the system is pretty barren

I agree with everything save for the bold. They’re stuck with these long term deals no matter how much the cap goes up. Nobody is taking on Pierre Engvall for 6.5 years.

Too bad barzal isn't better in his own end. Always a top guy league wide in zone exits and enteries with possession and he can skate it out of trouble. I was surprised to hear he leads the league in takeaways (probably give aways too)
