WTF! I took a piss and the game is over.

This team isn't even a bubble team. Take any reasonable offers.

Dobson crossing in front of Sorokin just as the puck was shot...
Just constant idiotic mistakes in our own zone

Your best possession player on the bench after a 3 second shift to start ot. I get he has some d issues but 3 v 3 is where he dominates

Said the same thing as I saw who was out there. Put Horvat, Barzal and Dobson out there and take this game.

I have a feeling Lane will remain coach, no major trades at deadline, and Lou rides with what they have for the remainder of the season. After which Lou “retires” and a new GM comes in. If nothing else maybe this will be a reverse jinx for a new coach to come in only to have the same result with this roster.

We should know pretty soon what Lou’s intentions are. If Lane isn’t replaced after this abysmal trip he’s not getting replaced.

Oh yeah I agree.
However I would say he’s been given a long enough leash. This game with its defensive lapses, odd man rushes and the 1st and 2nd periods of the team just going through the motions it’s time.
The team looks lost and don’t think they have confidence in Lane or what he’s preaching.
It’s time to stop the bleeding before it’s too late.

From Twitter

-Lane can't survive the Isles losing 7 in a row.
-Lane can't survive blowing a 4-2 lead to the Devils w/ :23 left.
-Lane can't survive blowing a 4-1 lead to the Sharks.
-Lane can't survive a 7-0 loss to the Penguins.
-Lane can't survive losing the Preds with :07 left.
-Lane...

Hawks had scored 4 goals in their previous 5 games and 2 scored their 1st of the year vs us. Also they were missing bedard, hall, anathisiou, and I think k 4 other regulars so they lost to an ahl team too

Exactly what they should have done last TDL. We may have even been better for it this season potentially with a couple blue chip draft picks to boot. *timing*

Blame Lane is so hot right now but this team isn’t that good. They weren’t that good last season or the season before either and we doubled down on the same lineup. That’s not Lane’s fault. At least we got Engvall locked up for another 6.5 years.

Martin is toast and so is clutterbuck, replace them with fasching and Gauthier and then slot Palms and lee to line 3 and replace their spots with players added. Oh wait we don't have the cap space or picks/prospects to do any of that. Lou has painted this team into a corner

I could see holmestrom on top 6 if he continues to grow

You never know with Holstrom I didn’t think he would be anywhere near as good as he is right now but he strikes me as more of a middle 6’er. Yes Lou has painted us in a corner. He has an inability to see the obvious for going on three years now. Incredibly frustrating to watch.

Just trying to work with what they have currently and I can't see Engvall up there even with his speed. Lee is OK for now but he's not the long term answer there. Idk the system is pretty barren at this point and the long term deals seem unmovable so idk what the solution is but we have a long time to wait for the paint to dry

Yep. What could have maybe been a quick retool last season has turned into what looks like, right now at least, a long, painful, rebuild. That’s what happens when you add two more unmovable, long term, contracts.

But who are we kidding? Lou isn’t going to do that. He’s going to keep doing the same thing until he retires or he’s fired.

This was his m.o in Toronto. His hiring was a great turnaround for this organization and it gave them credibility and pulled them out of the dark ages but everyone has an expiration date

I do think this is Lou’s last year. He’s gotta be hearing it from someone in ownership, or at least hints of something. The arena is still new and needs be filled. I do think it’s a pretty good indication if he doesn’t let Lane go. Why bring in a coach now only to bring in a new gm that will likely want his own coach that fits the style of play he’s aiming for?

I believe it was for Toronto as well. Like a lot of other NHL execs and coaches it seems the key to Lameriello is knowing when to pull the plug and move onto someone else once things are turned around. Toronto realized this(not that they are some well run team) and made the change after he locked up Marleau and other over the hill retreads.

They, like us, were stuck with some unmovable long term garbage pail contracts that they had to give up assets to dump. Literally the same situation minus Toronto actually having some great young players like Matthews and Marner. We’re in a much more crappy situation with mediocrity locked up long term. Horvat has been playing great but the guy is in his prime.

Does anyone think by the time we are truly competitive he’ll be playing at this level? Hence the TIMING of that trade sucked. It was the right move at the wrong time.

Problem is if he’s done we’re more or less setting the table for Chris who has been ordained the heir apparent. Chris may be a wonderful GM for what any of us know but I for one am not to happy about that. This guy shouldn’t be given the keys to anything because he’s this guys son. He has proven nothing and if we are using Bridgeport as a barometer then he shouldn’t be anywhere near the NHL team imo.
